Why oh why did I update?!

Hmm...Installed the update and now I'm getting a "The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (13008)."

Terrific.

Since I've updated iTunes literally crashes my entire system. (i.e. gray screen of death and the hard drive making very worrying clicking noises)
I've tried re-installing which allows me to open iTunes, but as it's scanning through my music it starts doing the same thing and then the inevitable screen of death comes back. fantastic. Anyone else run into this and find a solution?

I've got a Macbook Pro, 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 gig ram, running OSX 10.5.5

.... repair permissions? Maybe it's because you put your signature in your post.

Thanks for the advice but....

I suppose I should've outlined what I've done to try to fix this. I have repaired permissions (first thing I did, but thanks for the suggestion), deleted the library in hopes that iTunes would rebuild (but no) and finally re-installed iTunes. Nothing works.

But I can say that I'm not the only one who's having this problem. There's a thread on the Apple support discussions that's all about this.

ARGH..

Guess I need to some reading to see if anyone's figured out how to fix this nonsense.

try to trash your itunes preferences file. If you do a search for how to trash pref files you'll find plenty of instructions.

Installed and no hitches so far. I'm surprised at how much faster iTunes runs on my MBP than it does on Windows. (Actually, I really shouldn't be too surprised)

Slow and slower

It seems like every update of iTunes, slows it down.
it takes longer to boot, sometimes freezes, takes a long time to preview artwork..
hope another update will somewhat speed things up a bit.
