ok, i bet they are rolling 3.0 out next week, so when a new phone comes out their servers won't get pounded to death.

why would their servers get pounded? If/when the new iphone comes out, it will already have 3.0 on it. If they release 3.0 next week or next month, only current owners will need to download it. WHEN they release is irrelevant as far as their servers are concerned.

On the side, I hope the Quicktime update fixes my minor video glitches that I get on older quicktime files I have (where it randomly pixilates the upper 1/3 of the video). Have yet to figure that one out.

Finally installed the updated Quicktime this morning. It fixed the video artifact problem with older Quicktime clips! :D I'm happy with this update now!

Chapters of enhanced podcasts

Hey! An excellent feature of iTunes is now gone with the new iTunes update! Before, if you put an enhanced podcast into a playlist and burned a CD, then the CD would burn the chapters as separate tracks. Now the entire enhanced podcast with chapters is recorded onto a CD as only one track. This makes navigating the podcast while listening to it on a CD player in a car much more difficult. This is a real safety hazard!

Drivers WATCH OUT! I might hit you while trying to advance the CD to my favorite song on the podcast. If I hit you, don't sue me, sue Apple.

Because even though the new phones will have 3.0, they will still have to activate it, which requires connecting to the servers. Current iPhone users will connect to the server to get 3.0. New iPhone owners who did not have the foresight to install iTunes before purchasing their phone will have to connect to the server. This is what happened with the release of the iPhone 3G and caused a bunch of problems at the store, to the point where they started sending people home to activate the phones, since the wait time was so long.

Cant download QuickTime update for Mac on a PC??

Dont know if this has been posted before, but I can never seem to find the Mac OS X version when looking for the QuickTime update on the Apple website from my Windows pc at work. The Apple website detects that I am using Windows, and only offers the Windows version of the update.

I usually download the updates from work to save my internet cap at home, and then copy the update to a flash disk and install it when I get home. The iTunes update also offers the Windows version first, but there is a link at the bottom of the page to download the Mac version. No such luck with QuickTime:confused:

Anybody else experience this? Any ideas where to get the update besides via Software Update?

What about this:

mine just came up with the itunes and quicktime and garageband update. Also had an airport update.

Since I've updated to 8.2 iTunes has hung twice when I've tried to add content to my iPhone. Anyone else experiencing problems?

so apple thinks we're all thieves - with this new version of itunes when you delete an app from the iphone then later re-install it from the iphone - once you sync your iphone with the new itunes - it deletes it from the iphone. so that means we can no longer use our iphones to manage our apps - we have to use itunes. what a pain in the ass.

Awesome...thanx:D

Even tried searching for "quicktime for mac os x" on the Apple website from my pc but no luck. Will download QuickTime when I'm back at work tomorrow.

I'm on my Mac now...clicking on the QuickTime link on the Apple Downloads page only shows QuickTime for Mac:rolleyes:

Thanks again!

Ok...no luck still:( The link above opens the webpage showing the update for Mac OS X at 57MB's, but when clicking on "Download", it then redirects to the webpage offering the update for windows with/without iTune:rolleyes:

Looks like I'll only get this update using my macbook...only QuickTime seems to have this issue. Did contact Apple about it, but no feedback yet. Oh well...life goes on:D

Sorry, I didn't follow it that far. :( It seems they're being overly protective about keeping you from downloading software you may not want.

I haven't really read this whole thread, but does "The update adds support for iPhone OS 3.0" mean that iTunes won't check to see if the device is registered with the Developer program? If not, what does it mean?

Any word on if any of this is fixed?

OK, so I tried 8.2. Not particularly impressed.

I can reorder songs on the Shuffle, but that's all. Still can't play songs from the Shuffle. The "Add to Playlist"->iPod Shuffle item is also missing.

It's aggravating that when I update software, existing functionality goes missing. C'mon Apple! Your product line is so narrow. Surely you can do better at testing before releasing software.

I'm sticking to 8.0.2 for now.

Ooh, now even iTunes itself is getting neglected in favor of the iPhone... way to go, Apple! What a sad read... :(

iTunes pref for shuffle by album or song gone in 8.2?

This used to be a radio button in the advanced pane of iTunes preferences, but now its gone. Is there some new way to control this?

Answering my own question, this is (or maybe has been and I just forgot) in control -> shuffle-by menu.
