I can't wait to get home and try this as I have been plauged by the smart playlist sorting issue for WAY too long. I had submitted feedback to all of the apple links (iphone, ipod, itunes) along with everyone else.

Currently I am forced to toggle the "live update" option in order for my lists to order properly on the iphone. This completely defeated the point of smart playlists in the first place. Can anyone confirm fix?

Very happy to see these updates.

I hope this takes care of iPod playlists that I create within folders. For some reason the syncing would only allow the iPod to show the playlists, but not the folders I created in iTunes which help to organize them, as it used to.

After reading about Steve Jobs' alleged remarks calling Adobe "lazy" in regards to Flash for the iMac, I was beginning to wonder if Apple wasn't guilty of the same in regards to iTunes/iPod software. :)

Does it break jailbreaking?

I'll hold off until I hear reports about any impact on jailbroken devices or not.

Glad to see that password memorization issue is fixed. That's been really annoying.

+1

Can anyone confirm if this issue is fixed?

So windows gets a 64bit version, but OSX remains 32bit???

Is there a reason for that??

Anyway downloading the update now.

I'm sure they're rebuilding iTunes from the ground up and will implement a fully 64-bit version for both OS X and Windows in the next major release (where Quicktime X will be released for Windows as well). But this won't happen in a point release. It's just bug fixes for now.

Thanks, yeah I wasn't expecting a new build on a point release, I was just surprised to see windows had a 64bit version (but then I guess they had to get that sorted quick)

As I mentioned above, the 64-bit Windows version only has 64-bit versions of the drivers, the application is still 32-bit. It's simply because the 64-bit version of Windows has to run 64-bit drivers.

lol that will teach me not to read the whole thread, thanks for the info.

I turned Live Updating back on for my 'New Podcasts' smart playlist, synced it to my iPhone, and... it's still in the wrong order

Seriously, this issue's been there since, what? iPhone 3.1? That was nearly five months ago.

I can confirm - smart playlists on my iPhone are still a complete cluster. I guess the notes really do mean it's only fixed for SOME smart playlists, i.e. not mine.

Another work around that lets you keep live updating on (although it basically means it only live updates on your computer) is to add "playlist is music" to each smart playlist. I THINK this just means sync this playlist as it is over. Sot eh live updating works on your computer, and then this list is synced over.

Yeah, my Top 25 Most Played playlist on my iPhone is still just a jumble of random songs. I really hoped this update would fix it. We've been waiting so long!
