Why would you want to convert higher quality songs to 128 kpbs?
Just to save space on your iPhone, right?
I wonder if it'll save that much space on your iPhone
if it will take up extra space on your computer and really ruin your 320kbps songs.
too bad the artwork is stripped from teh reduced 128 Songs.
As for going that low....if you are listening to compressed songs on a tiny player and with probably not the BEST headphones is 128 that bad?
I have about 25 GB of music, mostly in 256 kpbs, plus a couple of GB in podcasts. I also have a 16 GB iPhone (bought when 16 GB was the max), formated capacity 14.7 GB.Why would you want to convert higher quality songs to 128 kpbs?

So, honest question: outside of movies, why would anyone need over 16GB?
It actually doesn't store the songs (when converted) on your hard drive

There is a 64-Bit Version for Windows on the Apple website. Is that new?
To get twice as many songs on your iPod, perhaps? (Or, in my case, simply just to sync what I have)Why would you want to convert higher quality songs to 128 kpbs?

When you start with lossless this won't matter (but people starting with lossless would probably prefer something higher than 128 kbps).2 things.
Any headphones better than generic iPod and you should hear a clear difference.
Also, when you transcode lossy to lossy audio, you introduce artifacts, which is very bad.

Engadget says this blocks syncing for jailbroken iPhones. Can anyone confirm that? Would that be a first if true?
And they've retracted it appears (without noting that they did or why). Interesting.Engadget says this blocks syncing for jailbroken iPhones. Can anyone confirm that? Would that be a first if true?
I'll start re-ripping my entire CD collection to lossless tonight. Will take a while, but will be worth it. Problem solved, home audio quality improves. Win (though sometimes winning takes work).when you transcode lossy to lossy audio, you introduce artifacts, which is very bad.
And yet millions of people have converted (lossy) DVDs to iPhone-friendly (lossy) H.264 files and they've been perfectly happy with those.
Heck, I've converted DVDs to AppleTV format and I think they look just fine on my HDTV.
So sometimes things aren't really all that bad despite the fact that they can be described in a scary way.
Hmmmm weird! I d/l just now and installed and yet when I click on About it says iTunes 9.03!
Anyone else see that when clicking on About?
