I think there are two kinds of people when it comes to change. One hates it, and the other goes with flow and gets used to the new way.

In iTunes 9 does anyone knows a way to find the songs that still have DRM on your library?
The option upgrade your library to iTunes Plus disappeared...

Sort your purchased music playlist by bit-rate (you may need to add this column via the view options menu) - the 128kbps files will typically be the DRM'd ones, whereas the 256Kbps files will be 'iTunes plus' DRM free files.

Genius finally updated (one day later)

iTunes 9 Genius says it's "Uploading information to Apple" but has been for over an hour now so something seems hosed.

Anyone have success updating Genius after upgrading to iTunes 9 on Mac? I wonder if turning Genius off and back on would help ? Would I loose my existing Genius playlists ?

Thanks,
E

Wouldn't work yesterday, but this afternoon Genius update just as it was supposed to and now I've got my shiny new Genius Mixes...sweet!

Is there a way to do what control-click -> Copy used to do on a song in the store? That used to be the way to get the artist, song title, etc. into the clipboard. How do I do that now?

Seems to still work....<ctrl>+CLICK (or right click) on a song in the library shows a pop-up menu and I choose copy. Then pasting into Text Edit I get:

Holo Wa'apa 3:02 A'lea Take Me Home World 10 of 15 AAC audio file 14 1/19/07 11:23 PM 8/14/09 2:49 PM

That's still true in the library. But COPY used to work in the iTunes Store and that's what I'm asking about.

I tried control-clicking songs and using the drop-down arrows. I even tried dragging a song to a playlist in my Library, which Apple actually suggested as a way to keep a "wish list", thinking I could COPY the info from the song in the playlist, but you can no longer drag store songs to a playlist either!

Finally got around to installing it. I wish I hadn't. The player itself hasn't changed all that much, but the store is abysmal. It's so overcrowded that nothing can catch my eye. Overloading the user isn't going to help sales, Apple.

What idiot thought of those miserable horizontal scrollbars? And what happened to the genre list? Why aren't the cut-off artist and album names showing the full name if I hover over them? How am I supposed to know what "The Lendary..." is supposed to be? The artist is "Matthew ..."? And exactly which of the hundreds of musicians named Matthew am I supposed to guess that is? Yikes, I can't even hover over the name because it gets covered up by the magically appearing button that prompts me to buy this mystery song.

If I can't find anything interesting on the front page - and I'm not sure I want to dig through this ridiculous mess - where am I going to find music? How does Apple, of all companies, manage to produce such a mess? I want my shopping cart back, too.

Apple has turned my favorite online music store into one that I hate.

Okay, the look sucks, but I think I can manage ;)

Can anybody out there tell me how to find this much talked about Genius Mix, cuz I can't find it and I can't find this 'update genius' button either :(

Thanks!!! :)

To me, the new store feels like the PS3's original PlayStation Store... and those who had a PS3 back in the day, know this is no compliment. Although to be honest, I was getting kinda tired of the old store, it did need a refreshed look... just not THIS refreshed look

AND

I thought Apple was going for one theme for all of their apps!?!?

I mean, the unique look of Garage Band/iPhoto are admittedly different, but they work.
This iTunes garbage feels plastic and not very well thought out.

The biggest thing for me is the white background on the grid, because that is how I normally view my music... but that could be changing soon ;)

wait! I got it!!! this whole thing is one big evil plot to get people using cover flow!!!

iTunes is nothing more then an evil plot, complete with evil genius [mixes]

add an option to change grid view color

I won't be upgrading to Itunes 9 because of the white background in Grid View. I love the grey background in Itunes 8. Apple needs to add an option to change it back to grey.

Man, I LOVE the Blu-Ray support in iTunes9! It's AWESOME!!! All you guys that insisted that Snow Leopard didn't have Blu-Ray support because they were waiting to release it with iTunes9 (for sure) where SO on target.

You can also make a Smart Playlist where Kind contains Protected. This should match with all 'Protected 128kpbs AAC' files purchased from the pre-iTunes Plus store.

As an aside, you can find your iTunes Plus files with Kind contains Purchased, as this is used to separate them from normal CD-imported iTunes Plus-quality files.

...You forget the third kind of person. The one who loves change. :)

Quick review of Itunes 9

Ok, I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to Itunes 9. I'm glad I did. I like the new look of the store, my only complaint is that some of the thumbnails in the store are a bit too to small to see clearly, I wish they were larger.

I liked the movie section displayed in Cover Flow view in the Old Store but I like the layout of the new store too. Both stores are not necessary worse than the other, just different.

I purchased the Dave Mathews Band LP Album to see what the new feature was like. Itunes LP is pretty neat. It at least gives me a reason to purchase an entire album as opposed to just 1 or 2 songs.

I see what you guys are saying about the white background in grid view. It's a tad too bright for my eyes but I don't really mind it. I've already gotten used to it.

Hopefully Apple will add a color option in the future. That way you could choose the background color that you prefer. That would make everyone happy.

Cover flow looks pretty much the same to me. Itunes 9 seems to have better performance than Itunes 8 which I'm happy about, I have a pretty large library of songs. Scrolling through my songs seems smoother to me, it used to stutter a bit.

The colors of Itunes 9 seems a bit softer than Itunes 8. Itunes 8 seemed sharper and clearer to me. When I use the large text size in itunes 9, the text seems a bit too soft for my taste, it needs some sharpening.

Conclusion: I like Itunes 9, both Itunes have their positives and negatives but I'm glad that I made the upgrade.

pretty happy

I'm pretty happy with the move to iTunes 9.

Could do without the white background, but whatever.

Really, Really like genius mixes. It's made some good ones from my 12K+ song library.

HomeSharing is cool. Helps sync my MBP with our home system.

The store is a bit confusing and crowded right now but will surely start to make more sense with time.

looking forward to the LP and movie extras.

BUT EVERY TIME I CLICK THE GREEN BUTTON AND THE WINDOW JUST RESIZES I WANT TO SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!! why in the name of all that is holy would you change the function of a button so drastically after years of it working one way? WTF?!?! Yeah, I know I can 'option+click' but that's a pain in the ass and requires a hand on the mouse and keyboard at the same time. APPLE: Bring back the zoom to mini-player function!
