Invisible files?

Bizzaro, only a 73k install. And the download was 24.6MB (downloaded incredibly fast).

Maybe an invisible folder with files? And it's got different files for different computers?

Just an FYI, command+shift+4, space bar, select window to screenshot. Makes much sexier screenshots. ;)
Nifty trick. I'll remember it.

BTW: I still am not seeing the update, but now the window has shadowing around it! :D But again, no update. :(

I got the update through SU and it took about a minute with no reboot. Nothing to report since I don’t use TM other than the fact that the update was really small.

For those of you who are worried about the Disk Image size - I have seen size disparities before versus what is in it. It’s nothing to worry about in my book.

I don't see this update in Software Update. Maybe because I don't use Time Machine and back my system up with SuperDuper??

Yeah, I thought I knew all the little tricks! :D

It shouldn't matter if you've used TM or not. I don't think here's any way for Apple to know that.

It's probably just a staggered roll out like a lot of software updates.

This is by far the most useful comment in this tread! :D

I know about command+shift+4 (and +3), but the space bar... that's slick!

Well, seriously, it has saved my butt many times.
I have never seen something like that before, when I was a Windows user.

From what I've seen, Windows 8's File History feature works very much like Time Machine, which pleases me because I very much like the way that Time Machine works. :)

Well I don't know whether to manually install this or not since I don't get notified by Software Update nor do I use Time Machine. I do like to keep everything updated, as I may someday make use of Time Machine.

Thanks for the info. I use TM a lot. I installed the update via SU (38k) and the whole process went quite fast (approx. 45 seconds). No reboot needed as far as I can see.

Great... I read this just AFTER having restored from a TM backup to a new SSD drive.

I am in fact having an issue with my Photoshop License. Does anyone know what exactly is fixed with this supplemental update? Would it be worth installing the update on my previous boot drive, performing a TM backup then loading a fresh copy onto my SSD? I'd like to be able to solve this license issue in the most hassle free way.

Bah. Don't know what 10.7.3 fixes, but I can tell you what it broke: all my fonts. Still there in the Library/Fonts directory; still visible (and apparently fine) in FontBook; just not accessible in any CS5 application. Rolled straight back to a back-up copy of the HDD pre-upgrade, where I'll be staying.

Well, it looks like Microsoft has a Time Machine ripoff planned for Windows 8 called History Vault:

Except it already exists in Windows 7, and I use it
All MS is doing is giving it a facelift.

Before you do that, try repairing permissions.

There's a backup program in Windows Vista and 7 called Backup and Restore Center. It works on a schedule on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. It's a bit tedious to configure too.

Time Machine backs everything up every hour(?) and you can go open a specific directory in Finder and browse through previous states that folder was in. Backup and Restore Center did not do that. However, File History mimics the same functionality now.

People say File History is a knock off from Time Machine, but surely that's a good thing? Time Machine is excellent and having similiar functionality on Windows can only be a good thing for consumers.

I'm also not seeing the update. I'm running an iMac7,1, perhaps it has to do with the model you're running? To those who can't download via software update, could you post your Model Identifier to see if there is a connection.

Early 2008 iMac 8,1 here

This sub update is not showing up at Apple Software Update (at least as for me).
I had to download it from this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1505

Did you install it?

There have now been 3 versions of the 10.7.3 combo update.

They each install a slightly different build, but the only difference seems to be in pre & post install scripts. If you look in "About this Mac" and check the build against these:

Initial release:
10.7.3 Build 11D50

Second Release approx 2012-02-04:
10.7.3 Build 11D50b

Third Release (current on SWUpdate and download dmg) approx 2012-02-29:
10.7.3 Build 11D50d

I'm wondering if those that aren't seeing the Supplemental update have build 11D50d. It looks like the distribution criteria for this supplemental update means it may not be required with 11D50d.

I have build 11D50 and i'm still not seeing it. Does the supplemental update have its own build ID (like a 4th variant of 10.7.3)?
