Took lot of time to restart before the system applied the update. Something like 3-4 minutes on a new rMBP. Got me worried, but its now working. Should never update on the first day and before reading others responses...

I have definitely noticed a decrease in lag in Safari. I am still seeing some lag on certain sites, but it has improved some.

Can anyone tell if it is a firmware update? Trying to update my 2012 MBA running ML. Would running in under Lion on an external drive be enough to update the firmware (if it is a firmware update).

Read the thread, its not a firmware update.

I'm also on Mountain Lion and have been hoping for a power fix.

Right now I'm on battery power, screen is at half brightness, a few programs inactive in the background, the fans are running and I'm burning 1% of battery life per minute (Macbook Pro mid-2012).

I love this machine aside from the horrible battery life. I was thinking of bringing it to Apple store to check for battery problems. I guess I'll wait for this update to roll out to Mountain Lion.

Dock CPU problem solution

By any chance do you notice any unusually high CPU usage in Activity Monitor? I was having an issue with Dock running the CPU very high. Turned out it was looking for a symbolically linked default desktop image, which for whatever reason no longer pointed to the correct file. It was causing the Dock to loop continuously. I know others have been experiencing the same problem and it was a very easy fix. Just need to recreate the symlink and make sure it points to an actual image file. The are instructions posted in this thread: Dock on MBP Retina is using 80% CPU

Ah hah! This explains why the update contains all the default desktops.

Hope it fixes all the problems I've had with USB 3.0 hard drives not mounting / running at USB 2.0 speed... will find out when I'm home!

This new update when i try to open the installer I am seeing that it's only for 10.7.4 or higher? I am using the GM of 10.8 (dev account)

Took a few minutes to download, but only a minute or less to install and reboot. Lag is much better.....crazy difference. Amazing!

I hope so too =/
I've been having the same issue with a Toshiba 1TB Basics USB 3.0 except it won't even mount on the rmbp. If this update fixes that I will be so happy.

Update: i got the update and my portable hard drive still doesn't work. Can anyone help me on what i should do from here?

I got message "This software is not supported on your system." I have MBA 2011 model. version 10.7. I used manual install.

Edit: The website says "This update is recommended for all Mac notebooks introduced since June 2012." Does that mean 2011 models can't use it at all?

Firstly, obviously that's what it means... Secondly, it doesn't matter because clearly 2011 models don't need it. It's probably something vaguely hardware-related, fixed with software.

I migrated all settings from my wife's MB to her new MBA and some problems. The battery would last less than two hours and the fan was always running and the computer was super hot. I was going to do a clean install until I saw the update. I just did it and now, instead of the fully charged battery saying that it had 2 hours remaining, it jumped up to 7 and then 6 hours. My wife has been Internet browsing for about 20 minutes and no fan and it's not at all.

There is also no more scroll lag.

Noticeably less lag on my rMBP.
Hope it will be even better when getting on Mountain Lion.

When installing the update it did however stay on the grey screen for 10-15 minutes without any progress. I then hit the power button and only then did it install the update. Strange...
