Does this fix the 2012 MacBook air battery life. The 2011 Air's got like an hour more battery in all the reviews. Weird because the new ones have smaller fab processes and whatnot… Can anyone about for that?

I got message "This software is not supported on your system." I have MBA 2011 model. version 10.7. I used manual install.

Edit: The website says "This update is recommended for all Mac notebooks introduced since June 2012." Does that mean 2011 models can't use it at all?

Was your MBA introduced in June 2012?

For those of you with Toshiba Canvio USB 3.0 1TB external HDD's, unable to mount the drive on your new MacBook Pro or Air, here's a solution that's actually pretty darn cheap. $1.51 US.

Several years ago I bought a Toshiba 320 GB 2.5" external disk for only 30 Euro, it came with an Y-Cable, on my powerbook it has no problem(using 2 USB ports) but even when I use a 1 Amp 5 V external power supply and connect it with a single link USB to My TV it won't start up, or using a powered USB hub, same problem.

Toshiba drives seem to consume a lot of power when they start up, never had any problem with a single link USB with IBM/Hitachi drivers, they seem to draw a lot less current, need less power.

See my previous post, but as others have said, this is for the June 2012 MBA's.

I applied the patch to my 2012 13" MBP, didn't see any major improvements, still beachballs for a second here and there. Time will tell, but Mountain Lion will probably come before I can truly get a feel for any effect it may have had.

Did it work for you well with USB 3.0 speeds? (5GB/s)

I wish I could tell you, I've got one ordered but haven't received it to try. I'll let you know.

I ordered one too because I need it on a PC. Given on Macbook Pros, mine (1TB model) works fine on any USB2 port on single cable, and on USB3 port if I get a traditional USB2 cable and use it instead of the USB3 cable, all signs point to it being a issue w/ USB3 driver and not lack of power.

Well i ordered it so hopefully when it gets here it'll work. If not it was only $4 so its not like i'm throwing away a lot of money.

Skype still continuously crashing for me. Updated to the latest version and no change. I hear the startup noise and then crash.

you should try restarting the computer one more time. after the update, my dock didn't work, so i had to restart it and that fixed the problem. worth a try?

This is great - My new 13 inch has actually been running a lot warmer than I was expecting and the battery life, while very good, isn't as good as my wifes 13 inch that is 2 years old.

Maybe this will do the trick!

Just as an update.... my new 13 inch is actually running cooler and my battery life has increased. I've been watching it pretty carefully over the last few days and it looks like a nice improvement.

Has anybody here checked if this update resolves compatibility issues with USB 3 devices connected through USB 3 hubs?

Very interested in this as well. I'm still waiting for my rMBP (ordered on 27/6 shipping to Israel), and I got me an Aluratek USB 3.0 hub, because I will be working with multiple HDDs most of the time. I've heard mixed rumors about the speeds of these hubs on the new macbooks and that worries me...

Chrome crashes?

I've had two kernel panics blamed on Chrome beta (21.0.1180.49 ) in the 90 minutes since I installed this update. That hasn't happened to me in the week or two since I installed v. 21. I wonder if it's related to the update. Anyone else had a problem with this? (I'm on a rMBP running 10.7.4)

Well I can report that I've tried attaching the same USB 3.0 SATA dock via one of my original USB 3 hubs to a brand new rMBP that had the update applied. The disks were connected as USB 3 devices at 5 Gbps even when attached through the hub.

I'm not sure if this is due to the update (couldn't test he rMBP before the update was applied) or because the rMBP didn't have the same USB 3 issues my 11" MBA did. I've sent my MBA back in the meantime so I can't check myself.

Anybody use rMBP and already updated. Could you please tell me. Does rMBP run cooler with this update?

Just an update:

I received the cord in the mail and it does not work. The drive still doesn't mount but can be seen in system report. When using the USB 2 on the chord it doesn't even recognize the hard drive in system report. Hopefully ML will fix all of this today/tomorrow.
