I'm still having an issue in macOS 11.2.2 where Keychain/Finder doesn't remember a few of my external drive's encrypted passwords (FB8980097). I can check the box to remember, but they're still not mounting automatically after a reboot. I'm having to mount them in Disk Utility and then re-enter the drive's password. Selecting the box to remember doesn't seem to be working.

I'm also having an infrequent issue with Mission Control crashing or becoming non-responsive (FB8965071). I have a Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Dock Pro I use to connect to my M1 MBP 16GB/2TB model, and at some point overnight when my Dell U2717D Monitor goes to sleep, Mission Control becomes non-responsive. When this happens, I’m unable to interact with the Mac Menu Bar at all, which means I’m unable to interact with the Menu Bar while any app is open, including Finder. When this happens, I’m unable to swipe to reveal any notifications. Clicking on the time/date doesn’t work to open the side bar and see my widgets or notifications. The only way to “fix” this is by rebooting. Which also means the only way I’m able to reboot is via Terminal, “sudo shutdown -r now”.
This isn’t a consistent issue. I do notice this when I’m working away from my desk and then return and reconnect to my dock and then leave it be. Screensaver comes on like normal and the monitor goes to sleep after the duration of Time set in System Preferences. But it’s usually when I reconnect, and then the next morning I see this issue. Never (as far as I can remember) when It’s already connected to the dock for the day and I return to it the next day with it still connected. Basically it’s after I reconnect to the dock.

I filed FB8965071 for this back in early January, too. This same Dock works absolutely fine with my 2015 MBPr 15” connected to a USB-C to USB type A Apple Adapter. I have zero issues using that laptop. Only an issue with my M1 MBP.

Give us ports back so we don't need hubs and dongles in the first place.
Post circa 1998: “Give us back the floppy drive and SCSI ports so that we don’t need hubs and dongles in the first place.”

USB-A and Thunderbolt 2 are ports of the past. The USB-C / Thunderbolt 4 connector can do literally everything that the old ports did, but with an industry standard connection.

Not too mention there are other uses for hubs (eg. docking stations) which wouldn’t be “solved” by adding in legacy ports.
I disagree. At this time many devices use HDMI as a video/audio connector. It would be very convenient to have an HDMI port on the side of a Macbook. The Mac mini's have one, which attests to Apple's recognition of the universal usefulness of this port.

I can also pretend macOS updating isn't terrible, apparently that's your strategy

Over 6GB of downloads in the last two updates that each take about 20mins to install on an M1, but I guess folks are fine with this.
I don't need to pretend. It's not terrible at all. Although I have griped myself in the past that the update UX could be better.

There is always inconvenience in updating software, but macOS updates happen when I choose, when I'm not using the computer for other reasons. It's not that hard to do.

This. The default option is to first notify you that an update is available (that you can take your time actioning on) and then choosing when you want to update, either right at that moment or just doing nothing and it'll happen on it's own, usually overnight or when not in use. I'm not really sure what the issue is.

I do agree that things seemed better/faster before with Delta Updates as opposed to the large updates, but I think that's due to it needing the full installer to update the internal recovery partition? Not sure about that, but I know a lot of that has changed since Delta Update times.. Screen Shot 2021-02-26 at 8.40.15 AM.png

There are reports of M1 Mac Pro, clearly an error. Either Intel x86 Mac Pro, or M1 Mac mini, most likely.

Anyway, does the issue arise because such docks-hubs deliver too much power and fry the port controller?

Did anyone else have their Mac.com/Me.com go offline after the update? I only noticed it on my M1MacMini after checking my mail on my iPhone. The account had the little "lightening bolt" squiggly line next to the iCloud Inbox icon. Once I saw that I clicked on it and mail resumed.

I juste finished the German 11.2.2 Big Sur update and it went flawless on my 2 week old M1 MacBook Pro 13.
I use two USB-C docks and both seem to work as before
1° TwelveSouth StayGo (USB-C charger, USB-3 2TB SSD TimeMachine, 4K Benq Monitor on it)
2° Icy Box IB-HUB1429-CPD
Both docks attached and no complaints from new Big Sur 11.2.2, that's good.

It would be good to get some reviews telling what brand/type of docks do not working anymore.

Mac mini M1 no display via USB-C solved for me.
Bought a new mac mini m1, 4 days ago. Out of the box 11.1. Monitor Dell U2771 connected USB-C > Adapter > Display port. Everything works great. BigSur update to 11.2.1 and no more display via USB-C, only HDMI but bad resolution as the monitor is old. Stress level 120!
Few days later comes this 11.2.2 update and gives me back the image via USB-C.
I hope this is good news for other Mini M1 users with same problem.

Weird happenings with this update.

Last night, the iMac Pro says 'You have an update!'. Duh... So I shut down everything running at the time, and start the update. It's 'done'. I click 'restart', and turn off my external monitor, thinking that after it restarts the only screen that will be on is the builtin one. Safe bet, right? NOOOOOO!!! Apparently not!

I go to wake it up, and it's got a beautiful black screen, and a beach-ball floating on it. Oh? Yeah, the ball moves across the screen with the mouse. Oh? I turn on the second monitor, it's over there too. Oh, really... Then, nothing. Just the beach-ball. I hit escape, I hit enter. No sound, just the magic floating beach-ball. Strange...

I hold the power button in and restart it and it comes up, after rebooting twice, and then the 'This update will take about 9 minutes to install, your screen, yadda yadda' and proceeds to reinstall the update I saw it install last night. Hmm... System restarts, and all *seems* good. Weird. It kernel panicked earlier in the week, so... *shrug*

Maybe this fixed the issue I had when I updated it the time before and had funky video on the external until I rebooted without the dock, and plugged it in, which was pretty weird. Just strange...

Guess it needed some company last night, while it fluffed the pillows and rearranged the furniture. Anyone's guess...

Maybe this is fixed now, or maybe it's my system, but I have auto install turned on, and for an earlier update, it kept telling me the update would be installed 'tonight', and never did. After a few days of that, I just went in and did the update. It reminded me that the update would be installed that very night as I was installing it, and I just ignored it. 'Yeah, that's what you said for days for the last update. Bite me. Maybe I'll trust you to do the next one.' I figure I should just do them rather than trust that they will automagically install. It seems to work inconsistently in my experience. *shrug*

It would be nice if Apple made the full installer available upon release. We may have to wait a week or more to update our USB installers.
Yeah, I'm still seeing last week's 11.2.1 update in the App Store as of about 5PM CST.

I literally found multiple examples of USBC to HDMI and converters in 5 seconds on Amazon. Plus I have owned an inexpensive £20 USBC hub for over two year with SD Card reader and and multiple other ports including HMDI

You are missing the point. Whats easier, inject your common HDMI cable into your laptop via a dedicated HDMI port or go on Amazon and buy an HDMI-to-USBC converter, pay money and shipping, wait for it to arrive, and carry it around with you just incase you need it?

Now I understand why I haven't been able to use my Caldigit TS3+ dock lately. I have a 27" 4k Dell monitor connected to it and now when I connect my 2017 15" MBP to it, the monitors turns on and then it goes into standby mode. No mater how many times I unplug it and plug it back in I can't make it to work. I thought the dock broke down. Currently installing 11.2.2 to see if it fixes the issue. Will report back.
Happy to report that 11.2.2 fixes 4K monitor support via UCB-C cable. Yes!

After the download, in the installation phase, the progress bar restarted at least 6-10 times (black backround + the Apple logo + progress bar) - is this normal? I don’t remember other updates getting this many progress bar restarts...

I’m on an M1 MBP 8/256.

Also, is there any chance that Apple would give us more detailed descriptions of what’s being addressed with these updates? I’ve always felt they were a bit skimpy. I guess “bug fixes and optimization” covers a lot of ground, but it would be nice if they mentioned at least the biggest bugs that people complain about. Of course, I can understand if there are security updates and they don’t want to give too many details, but ordinary bugs - why not?

How much of all this is Big Sur and how much specific to particular machine models? TIA.

After this update the Airpods automatically connect and stay connected after opening the lid. Wasn't the case earlier. Hope it stays this way
