Finally showed up.

Went from 8 hours remaining to 18 hours remaining to 1 day remaining.

Took about a dozen tries clicking on GET button, but I finally got the Download choice! 12GB! OUCH!

And, no...you don't need to be on 10.15.7. I'm on 10.15.6 and it's downloading now.

Up now in So Cal. It usually takes 10 mins after release time, but Big Sur took 15! Trying it first on my guinea pig - my late-2013 MBP (Retina). That one usually sits collecting dust until I need it for the rare time I actually NEED to use it. Way too nervous to install on my new 2020 27" iMac.
I am diving right in with my Mac mini server install.

Even though I've tested beta 2 months ago and it was very good, I think I'll wait for 11.0.2 this time as I will wait for black friday software deals (like little snitch) to catch up.

When I played with it though it seemed like a really nice OS (apart from some weird ugly icons which are still present)

I'm on Catalina 10.15.7.

So, I go to the App store. Finding Big Sur through the link (sent in this thread).

Clicks the link and it searches for the update:

The requested version of macOS is not available.

Thanks Apple!
