Apple today provided developers with the seventh beta of macOS Golden Gate, with the update coming a week after Apple seeded the sixth beta.

Developers can download macOS Golden Gate by going to System Settings > General > Software Update. Beta Updates will need to be enabled, and a free developer account is required.

macOS Golden Gate includes multiple design improvements. Liquid Glass opacity has been improved to increase readability, there's a slider for controlling the level of transparency, and changes to shadowing make it easier to tell when a window is active. Apps now have uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars, and less rounded corners, plus there are fewer icons in menu bars.

Siri has been transformed into Siri AI, a chatbot-style assistant that combines general world knowledge, your personal data, and onscreen awareness to answer questions about anything and find information for you. Siri lives in Spotlight, and you can ask questions with the new Search or Ask interface.

There's also a Siri app where you can chat with Siri and view past conversations, and on newer Macs, you can set a custom voice for Siri with personalized pace and expressivity. Visual Intelligence is now on the Mac so Siri can answer questions about what's on your screen, and a Write with Siri feature lets Siri generate text or give feedback on your writing.

There are AI photo editing tools in the Photos app, AI tab organization in Safari, an option to use AI to automatically update weak passwords in the Passwords app, and a revamped Image Playground app that can generate photorealistic images.

More on all of the new features in macOS Golden Gate can be found in our macOS Golden Gate roundup.

I have a iPhone 17 base, and Siri has been super duper slow last 2 dev betas. "Hey Siri, play The Cult Essentials" or "Hey Siri, turn on the Kitchen lights" takes about 10+ seconds to do.

I realize that only the pro phone models gets the "good Siri", but I really hope this improves.

Otherwise, betas have been decent imho.

So Sonoma is done then. No surprise, but staying AI free of AI will be harder if it's possible at all.

I want to be the 10000th to say that a slider to make your design decision usable is a massive embarrassment.
Quite the opposite. Apple giving an option is great. Some people love Liquid Glass, some don’t. What may seem unusable to you is usable to others. 27 releases is miles better than 26 is, so they are listening to feedback and it will continue to get refined in subsequent releases.

Battle.net on Crossover still doesn't launch. Not sure if it's an Apple, Battle or Crossover issue.

NVM fixed it by adding "WINE_SIMULATE_WRITECOPY=1" on run with options.

They need to make the Liquid Glass slider so opaque that it essential flattens the design. Liquid Glass is a cool effect, but it's an unnessasary distraction; I can't stand the way notifications zip onto the screen in iPad OS27, just have them neatly drop down from the top. It's all too gimmicky and flashy in my book.

I hope that this macos can let you have increase contrast on without reduce transparency. I know they will have a slider on in this version but i like the balance of liquid glass and being able to see stuff on my phone and hope they bring it over!

This was the first thing i tested after the update. So far so good

I mean, back in the days of aqua, there were several options to tone it down.
I don’t really see a difference here.
The real issue is that when the background is blurred or a color the whole Liquid Glass effect looks like mud because it’s a dynamic refraction. It needs some built in shine like aqua to look okay. The edge highlights read as a cheap design decision and not glass.
