The new gatekeeper is for mountain lion, mavericks, yosemite, el capitan, sierra and high sierra.

Technically gatekeeper dates back to lion 10.7.5 in its GUI form. Prior to that there was the spct1 command in 10.7.3 and 10.7.4. And prior to that there was File Quarantine in Leopard and Snow Leopard.

This new version of gatekeeper however has not been released for lion.

Also I said before the El Capitan Security Update 2018-003 at https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1967?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US gives you build 15G21012 whereas the one from the mac app store gives you 15G21013.

So if you want the standalone installers for build 15G21013 they are here instead (install in this order - last one requires a restart):

Full Bundle Update: http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...r8xlta8sfkdwkm2cxjk069ri/FullBundleUpdate.pkg

Firmware Update: http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...mgr8xlta8sfkdwkm2cxjk069ri/FirmwareUpdate.pkg

Security Update 2018-003: http://swcdn.apple.com/content/down...sfkdwkm2cxjk069ri/SecUpd2018-003ElCapitan.pkg

@tywebb13

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

I am learning from you a lot!

I will try to install El Capitan in the order you suggest :)

Any Xprotect update?

Thanks
Camelia

For all those who are experiencing the “missing checkbox” issue, let me just remind you that for iMessages in iCloud to even appear as an option you must have two-factor authentication enabled in your iCloud/AppleID account.

Yep, that was the ticket. Thanks.

Would have been cool if the checkbox was greyed out and said 'Enable two-factor to change this setting'.

I have this exact same issue with my iTunes video library. In addition, watching videos in Safari produces the same mouse cursor lag, though the videos will at least play. I'm using another browser as a work-around, since only Safari causes the issue. I have a 2017 13" MacBook Pro.

I tried reverting to a 10.13.4 backup from early yesterday morning and the issue is still present, so I'm thinking perhaps it's something to do with the iTunes update from a few days ago :\

I've upgraded my MacBook Air 13" with 8 GB RAM to High Sierra 10.13.5 and now both Nox and Bluestacks emulator when opened will freeze my system display a black screen and automatically the system restarts. I am unsure about this issue anyone else encountering same?

It only downloaded my messages through Sept 2017, nothing after that... Had such high hopes.

I just read in another thread it sometimes takes hours to complete this process. It's only been about two hours so maybe I'll get lucky!!

SD-Card icons in sidebar seems to be broken in 10.13.5

You're welcome! I had read somewhere that it wasn't as straightforward to activate as it seemed, so I searched for tutorials first (though I already had 2FA set up, so activating iMessages in iCloud was a breeze for me).

And you're absolutely right; it's a shame Apple couldn't be bothered to enforce discoverability while at the same time encouraging and coaching people to enable such an important security feature.

In fact, while we're at it, Apple could've gone the extra mile and have said checkbox visible and clickable, except it would prompt those users who don't have 2FA enabled to rectify that right then and there and revert to an unchecked state if they cancelled that process. Oh well…

I have reason to believe too that this same version of the Gatekeeper update will be available for the first developer preview of macos 10.14 if it isn't already in it.

iPhone 8+ and iPad Pro 10.5 worked great. But only messages through Sept 2017 synced for my Mac. No messages after Sept showed up at all. All settings are correct.

Hey, Guys
I'm new here!
I've just tried to update from 10.13.4 to 10.13.5 on MacBook pro 2017 and all I got is black screen with cursor on the top left side of the screen so I had to force quit / shut down the computer so it's didn't get an update. Now my Mac won't shutdown or restart without force shutting it (holding power button down)

Anyone with the same issue? Any help, please?

Thanks a lot

Welcome to the Forum. When I updated I had the black screen with the cursor at the top left. The computer was still updating. It took approx. 1 hour to update from download to install complete. Some experienced members should chime in to help you with the problem since I'm still new running Apple. ;)

Hey, Thanks
But it didn't look like it was updating (usually you get a running bar showing you the status of an update etc. and the logo) this time it obviously got stuck (frozen). I've waited for a bit before shutting it with a force power button. Tried several times.
The main thing now is that I can't shutdown or restart computer - it always shows black screen with the cursor for ages, so because an update requires restart - updating is out of the question.

Thanks for the info on the restore, that saves me from trying that same approach. Given all the reboots during the install, and the fact that Safari also won't display any HD content, I'm wondering if the issue isn't related to a firmware update. It doesn't seem many people are experiencing this issue based on web searches, so the issue could be isolated to certain models.

10.13.4 broke a lot of things. I have a hunch Apple has not done anything to address most of those issues and I wouldn't be surprised if 10.13.5 breaks even more things. I've really started to lose faith in Apple over the last two years.

To be fair, the people at Duet don't seem to have done anything about this, either.
