I have to say these Apple OSes are starting to work really well on my devices... Especially things like AirDrop, Universal Control etc. (stuff that works with other Apple stuff) are now much smoother than a few years ago...
Yeah, if only they could get the bog standard stuff like USB working we'd all be happy.

Can anyone confirm that this update resolved the "Bricking" of new MBP M1 Max computers which had a logic board replacement? Attempting 12.3 destroyed my logic board/SSD and I lost a weeks worth of work...

Do you mean that the update destroyed your ssd/logic board and had to be replaced or that you lost your data only?

I updated my 2018 15" macbook pro (intel) to 12.3 and it bricked it.
I could not revive it through DFU mode with the Apple Controller 2 because it was trying again to install 12.3 which could not boot with it.
I waited paitiently for this version and I did not restore it, to not erase data.
Do you think that if I try to revive it now it could work? (If 12.3.1 fixes the bricking issue)

An operating system contains millions of lines of code. It will never be perfect and there will always be some memory leak somewhere. But the major ones seem to be under control.
I work in software Quality Assurance and I can guarantee you that perfect software does not exist!
I do know of one piece of software that was certified perfect; the NASA Range Saftey code in service when Challenger blew up. The code review took two years at a cost of roughly $1,000 per line but it proved that the space shuttle could not have been blown up by RS. RS was the first place they looked because it COULD blow up the shuttle. My chances of ever going to space ended that day. ?

what the hell, my nee m1 max 16" had insane batt now leaving it on with no apps open the batt % number is going down every few min I went from 70 to 61 in like half hour with just screen open, it wouldn't of moved before what's happening, all the kernel_task is showing over 500 threads on cpu and memory I done a reset and close all apps but same

Yep. It's a process, not a binary state. I seem to recall that some of the software that NASA has flown on some of their unmanned remote probes (things like Voyager) has come close, because there's often no chance for updating after launch, and I have a vague recollection of some non-trivial software system where they went to the effort to formally prove it mathematically correct, but I don't recall what it was for.

Found a solution to force download it!

Instruction below:

Screen Shot 2022-03-31 at 7.13.18 PM.png

1. Leave your mac on, with the software update panel open.
2. Make sure you plug it AC power.
3. Disable sleep for the time being.
4. Put on your shoes.
5. Go touch some grass.
6. Come back, later.
7. Should see the "An update is available for your Mac".
8. Happy updating and early April Fools.

Updated both my Monterey Macs to 12.3.1., and I can confirm THIS problem is still there...

The past few OS's from Apple have me feeling more like a MS user, waiting for patch Tuesday, praying it finally resolves issues.

Mac mini (M1, 2020) still dealing with intermittent drops of USB, USB-C, Bluetooth... iMac (M1, 2020) external display issues with the same on issues mentioned about the mini... Software that stopped working on the 12.3 update due to file loss issues with the new "caching" for files before writing issue.

Well with this update maybe it will resolve the issues causing me to purchase the refurbished Mac mini and at least external displays will connect and turn on correctly.

Bit alarming that the external display bug is referenced purely as a Mac mini 2018 issue, rather than on iMacs and MBPs too - either they haven't fixed the issue for all, or they don't know fully understand what the issue was.

Still, nearly download on my iMac 2017 with dual, borked external displays so will soon find out.

Edit: Yes, it fixed it.
was gonna say the same, it messed up my MBP 16 2019 totally - good its fixed!

For me, this issue is resolved.

What about fixing the web cam in the studio display
Yeah for real!

Despite its cost, I'm actually interested in the studio display as it is a true 10-bit panel (not an 8-bit with FRC), and it's very hard to find a panel like that below 1200$.
All the "so called 10 panels" that are around 600-800$ are emulated 10-bit.

I can tolerate a high price for the excellent build quality and additional features, however such features must work as intended, and the webcam surely doesn't...

Anyway I fail to understand the inclusion of center stage to the webcam, as you almost never need to move the view to include other people (while on desktop), and lots of apps crop the middle of the ultrawide (an other thing I fail to understand for a webcam mostly used for work calls).

I would have rather had the same camera as the front facing one on the iPhone, which is excellent.

Having a problem updating on my M1 Max MBP.
System Preferences won't accept my user account password to allow the update to go ahead.
Password works fine in other contexts.
Tried to change the password but it won't accept changing the password either.
Strange!
