But these crashes are occurring on people who are using certain graphics cards with Mac Pros. It's almost always related to Adobe's Metal plugin.
I am not using Metal, I am using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration (OpenCL). I hope that is a software issue and you are right but at this point I am worried that this might be hardware related.

I think my problems actually have gotten worse. I have tried transcoding media form an external drive to my internal and the computer keeps freezing. I get blinking squarepatterned graphic bugs all over the screen and the computer freeze. Have to do a hard restart :(

The screen is still kind of blinking when I'm using my web browser right now and not really doing anything demanding.

If it was hardware it should manifest in ALL apps that use those APIs. It wouldn't even be able to complete a Geekbench run.

To be honest, after macOS 10.12.1 I decided to give Windows 10 a try on my iMac...
What can I say... no regrets...
Seriously, Apple should remember as they have provided great (quality) hard-/software.
It is not as it was some years ago...

After all my excitement about a smooth upgrade, I found my first issue. Time Machine has stopped backing up to my Synology NAS. Taking its advice, I removed the disk and re-added it. I can select the disk, it finds the existing backup, accepts my encryption password, but when it comes time to do an actual backup it tells me there's a problem with the username or password. That's uh, clearly not the case because it set it up not two minutes ago. I tried deleting it from the keychain and starting again, but it still won't back anything up. I also tried a whole new share / user / backup entirely, same problem.

Re USB Audio loss.

Reinstalled Sierra - USB audio device shows up in Sound Output menu. USB Audio device does not show up in that menu on my MacBook, so it's definitely a screw up by Apple. First time it's happened to me.

So if you use USB Audio devices - avoid this update to Sierra till the issue is resolved.

Does your USB audio devices need specific manufacturer driver or it depends only on OSX generic USB support?

Good point with the Geekbench example. I will run one of those tonight and report back here on the result

I run the Geekbench and I can confirm that no graphic issues were present. I got a score of 41646 for OpenCL AMD Radeon Pro 450 Compute Engine.

Give justification!
sure, Tim is the kind of CEO that is looking out for the company, yes i know nothing wrong with that, he can make tons of cash for the company and build like 20 mother space ship with that money but give the costumers want they want and what they need, what they truly deserve. is not all about just making money for your company. taking your loyal costumers money and not giving some good back on returned. he is a good CEO for the company but very bad for the costumers. how about a new mac pro for starters, last time i checked the mac pro is almost like 3 years old, but every year we get phones, iPads, watches, bands, emoji, emoji, emoji, i wonder when he said that pc's are dead, if that also includes the mac pro.

How do you think a hardware company like Apple makes money? Precisely by making products that people want, and selling them!

If Apple products sucked, nobody would buy them. It's that simple. The things you said, like Apple Watch bands and emoji and iPads. You don't sound enthusiastic about them but guess what? Plenty of people evidently are.

I don't have the 10.12.2 uptate option in my updates, are they not released simultaneously world wide? Received my MacBook Pro yesterday with 10.12.1 on it.

Such a long drawn out post for a tiresome emoji joke. Props for creativity though.

I'll make mine shorter.

The most useful emoji of 2016.

you taking it the wrong way, there is nothing wrong with none of that as long as they don't forget mac os, that's all i'm trying to say,i am enthusiastic about mac os i don't have nothing against iPhones, iPads, watches or IOS but please update mac pro is over 3 years old going to 4 years now. i hope you understand me better now. and i never said that apple suck, my problem is with Tim i don't think he is the right person, i can't say the right man because well i think you already know.

The entire forum is complaining about battery life. My battery life was good after reinstalling Sierra.
Yeah that's not really a good way to quantify something. That isn't representative for real world numbers. Most people are going to post about poor battery life. Not really post about good battery life, they are just going to go on with their day.

10.12.2 isn't fixed my graphic issue what is that everyone complained about the topic Apple's CEO made a comment and said ''it will be fixed with the patch'' what should we do know how will trust them at this point what is our job are we always wait for announcements from apple it will be fixed and let them postpone this issue next patches and we are waiting now but until when ??

Try clicking on another tab in the Apps Store app (eg Purchases tab) then click back on Updates - sometimes "Updates" doesn't check for updates!

I am seeing a weird graphic tear right under the "spotlight search" when you access it for the first time when you open the lid. It does not happen again after the first time, only when you open the lid and not used the laptop for a while. Anybody else is experiencing this issue? I am on a MacBook Pro 2016 15" with touchbar, macOS Sierra 10.12.2. I don't remember seeing this before the update. I will try to post a screenshot this afternoon

Apple today released macOS Sierra 10.12.2, the second update to the macOS Sierra operating system that launched on September 20. macOS Sierra 10.12.2 comes two months after the release of macOS Sierra 10.12.1, and has been in testing since October 31.

macOS Sierra 10.12.2 is a free update for all customers who are running macOS Sierra. The update can be downloaded using the Software Update function in the Mac App Store.

macOS Sierra 10.12.2 includes new emoji, introducing dozens of Unicode 9 characters like selfie, face palm, owl, shark, avocado, pancakes, bacon, and more, plus there are new profession emoji available in both male and female genders.

Apple has also updated the artwork on many existing emoji to make them look more realistic, and new color explosion wallpapers -- from the iPhone marketing materials -- have been introduced.

Along with these outward-facing changes, the 10.12.2 update includes several important bug fixes. A serious graphics issue that has been affecting some new MacBook Pro owners has been solved, and a bug that caused System Integrity Protection to be disabled, also impacting the new MacBook Pro, has been fixed. A full list of bug fixes and improvements is below:macOS Sierra is the latest Mac operating system. It includes Siri support, Apple Pay for the web, Universal Clipboard, Apple Watch auto unlocking, improved iCloud Drive integration, Picture-in-Picture multitasking, and dozens of smaller features that can be found in our macOS Sierra roundup.

[doublepost=1482199333][/doublepost]I'm still experiencing this issue. Crashes with goofy graphics while AME is encoding.

USB Audio - update.

The issue appears to be confined to certain sound cards and not others. A second USB sound card worked as expected on 10.12.2. The card I'm using on the iMac is an HD 7.1 card bought from Marlins here in the UK. (It was £50). Ironically, the cheap one I bought off eBay works fine on the MacBook running 10.12.2. A trawl through the forums on tonymacx86.com shows some people having problems with USB sound cards, others not.
