Does Night Shift work with any Mac? And with any Display? Wondering if my MBA 2011 connected to an A1038 Cinema Display (the acrylic one with ADC connector, via MDP and DVI dongles...:apple:) will work...

Has Camera Raw been updated as well? I can't believe I haven't been able to use Apple Photos with my Sony A6500 yet. It's been out since December!

Night Shift uses Metal, so it works only on Macs with graphic cards supported by Metal.

This is a bit ridiculous; it would be trivial to implement Night Shift with ICC color profiles. Not only that but color profiles work through hardware so there's no performance hit.

My guess is that APFS on OS X is waiting for Case-sensitivity to be finished up. Since iOS doesn't use a case-sensitive file system it was able to ship early.

Actually iOS is case sensitive AFAIK. And of course it's optional on macOS but it's the default and vast majority of people are using case insensitive HFS+. So they didn't need to do anything with case to snap it into iOS, but they will have to get case insensitivity working before macOS (unless they plan to transition us away from it or something!)

Got an error that it couldn't be verified. Anyone else? 2016 MBP.

Edit: worked the second time.

Everything went well on my rMBP EARLY 2015. Night shift works on my external display which is super sweet :D. Transitions kinda feel more stable and fluid compared to 10.12.3

You have that backwards. iOS does use a case sensitive format, and APFS has supported that from day one, but only has some semi-functional case-insensitive support for now.

No schedule for Night Shift? That would suck having to turn it off and on when I want to use it...

To be fair, APFS has been. in macOS 10.12 from the beginning, albeit in "developer" quality implementation (e.g., command line commands to reformat disk into APFS, no in-place migration, external volumes only, backward compatibility issues between volumes formatted with 10.12.0 and 10.12.1).

I would love to see Disk Utility get APFS support, but other than that, macOS won't get full APFS until 10.13.

Night Shift works considerably smoother than f.lux so I welcome it.

Having said that, macOS is still prone to random freezes with 2016 MacBook Pros.
f.lux only gave me trouble when waking my laptop from sleep and it took a few extra seconds to launch. I'll try out Night Shift and see if loads up earlier in the boot process and handles waking from sleep with some more grace.

Downloaded, I see the option for Night shift on my main Dell monitor-but not my other two displays-Macbook Pro and another Dell...?
