Sonoma is very stable.
Not jumping is probably justified if you are not pushed to do it by your apps or care about possible change in power consumption etc.
When I was making money with computers (software development, photography), I was always more careful. The only thing that would really move me were serious security issues.

I like that Sonoma has been stable, in contrast to Ventura. I'm just being a little more careful, even though I want the M1 MacBook Air to be at its best. Monterey isn't bad.

macOS Ventura 13.6.2 is out for MacBook Pro (2021 and later) and iMac (2023).
Yes but the build numbers and version numbers can be confusing this time

There is

14.1.1 build 23B81 for older macs

ipsw: https://updates.cdn-apple.com/2023F...E43FBE/UniversalMac_14.1.1_23B81_Restore.ipsw

InstallAssistant: https://swcdn.apple.com/content/dow...iyidrdq5mpbj0yqmtxcqyjkd/InstallAssistant.pkg

14.1.1 build 23B2082 for M3 iMac 24" and M3 MacBook Pro 14" and 16"

14.1 build 23B2073 for M3 iMac 24" and M3 MacBook Pro 14" and 16"

13.6.2 build 22G320 for older macs:

InstallAssistant: https://swcdn.apple.com/content/dow...ee045eyi3ikm3h2nknm930is/InstallAssistant.pkg

13.6.2 build 22G2321 for M3 iMac 24" and M3 MacBook Pro 14"

InstallAssistant: https://swcdn.apple.com/content/dow...5u0svckb2vuel8hr5eeznpid/InstallAssistant.pkg

13.5 build 22G2080 for M3 iMac 24" and M3 MacBook Pro 14"

13.5 build 22G2074 for M3 iMac 24" and M3 MacBook Pro 14"

Interestingly the 13.6.2 build 22G320 is a lower build than the 13.6.2 RC (build 22G417) which was released on Oct 26.

Usually releases are same as or higher build than RCs, not lower builds.

If you did in fact install the 13.6.2 RC build 22G417 you may not see the OTA update to 13.6.2 build 22G320.

If that is the case you can use the full installer for build 22G320 and install it over the top of 22G417 to "downgrade" to 22G320 - even though 22G320 is a newer build than 22G417 as confusing as that may be.

Any word on whether this fixes the ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED error in Chrome/Chromium/Electron/Blink based browsers?
This isn't a problem specific to macOS so it's unlikely that a macOS update could fix it.

I've had multiple kernel panics on Sonoma, This is something that before Sonoma I hadn't experienced in years!
Same here on my Mac mini.
No issues with Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura - since the previous Sonoma update I get seemingly random panics.

I did diagnostics with and without stuff connected to the mini but no issues were found 🙃

So I’m hesitant with updates now - while at the same time I want to update in the hope it’ll fix the panics 😬

Warning. New MacBook 15 air m2. Update said it failed and it went into recovery mode to reinstall the OS. I exited out of it and the Mace management update ok.

There is a bug in the update.

It's really starting to show, all the complexities of programming tons of different plattforms and devices, combined with the obligatory yearly release cycle. Most of the software engineers are working on next year's bells and whistles. The shareholders are as always demanding even the impossible, and Tim Cook is gladly dancing to their tune.

What exactly is "really starting to show"? Do you not remember Leopard, a release so buggy that Apple had to put out Snow Leopard, a release solely focused on fixing bugs and performance issues? There's always been bugs, there's always been pressure to deliver new features. Sonoma is incredibly stable compared to many older Mac releases.

My exactly the same machine updated fine. You might have some system setting, program or whatever which it has trouble with.

Yes, I remember Leopard, and, yes, Sonoma is stable. I'm referring to the plethora of OS's we have to update nowadays. Sometimes mainly to address an issue with wireless charging in beamers (!). It definitely wasn't like that when the Leopard roamed freely. But our memories may differ.

Could anybody who had that weird Safari text rendering glitch report back on whether it's fixed now? That's kinda what stopped me jumping on 14.1, because Safari is one of my most-used apps.
