MacBook Pro 2023 with M2 Max,
at first attempt to install update MacBook rebooted and displayed apple logo for about 40 minutes,
I force rebooted it, checked for updates again, update was downloaded anew 🤷‍♂️
and then everything went well, it was installed in a few minutes 😅

If anyone's wanting to make a USB Installer and getting an Error like this , make sure you're downloading the correct .pkg file. I was trying the wrong one...

Build 23B81 is what you want for prior hardware. Build 23B2082 (I believe) is for the new MBPs?

::::EDIT::::
Scratch That. Still getting the same Error in Terminal-

Failed to extract AssetData/boot/Firmware/Manifests/InstallerBoot/* from update bundle
The bless of the installer disk failed.

I guess I'll have to depend on using the Built In Recovery instead of a USB. That's not good, not having the extra option.

I've also noticed that on my M1 MBP, when the Screensaver comes on after time has passed (normal behavior), I'm just seeing a Black Screen. If I trigger the Screensaver using a Hot Corner, the Screensaver displays correctly.

is it safe to update from Ventura?

I was going to do a clean install on my m2 Mini this weekend. All 5 of my 3rd party apps support Sonoma...

Also, is the process for installing from a USB drive still the same as if I was on an Intel mac? I am familiar with this process

I looked up the security info yet Apple states no security updates for this update. MacRumors could at least tell us that.

See my post just a couple up from here ☝️

I'm seeing that error on both my M1 MBP and 2018 Intel Mac mini, and I've downloaded the installer a few times, ensuring it wasn't a corrupted downloaded .pkg file. Looks like we're waiting for another update if we want to make a USB installer.

Anyone else having issues with Sonoma Dev Beta Updates? My 14" MBP M3Pro arrived yesterday. Although it was shipped with Sonoma 14.1 and I used migration assistant to transfer from my 14" M1 MBP I am not able to download any dev beta for 14.2. Turned dev beta option on/off many times w/o any success. Last night updated to Sonoma 14.1 14.1.1 (23B2082) when it dropped but no change. Any thoughts?

What exactly is "really starting to show"? Do you not remember Leopard, a release so buggy that Apple had to put out Snow Leopard, a release solely focused on fixing bugs and performance issues? There's always been bugs, there's always been pressure to deliver new features. Sonoma is incredibly stable compared to many older Mac releases.
Yeah and they dropped snow leopard from PPC.

Thinking of jumping from Mojave to Sonoma via OpenCore. Sonoma seems really nice, just have to replace some software.
Adobe suite CS6 is hardly used anymore and thinking of just moving to Photoshop elements and replacing iDVD with other apps and it looks like Quark 2018 may still work.
FileMaker is my only hang up, don't want to have to re-create everything in Libre office. Probably a dual boot solution or maybe a virtual box option.

I saw that...I can definitely wait if this becomes the consensus...✌️
I mean, overall Sonoma has been great for me. Much better than Ventura (for me), although not as good as Big Sur was initially out of the box (for me). I remember one of the original updates to Big Sur being one I should have stayed on before moving to Monterey and then Ventura. Was getting a Lot of kernel panics back then, but honestly haven't had any major issue with Sonoma. Boots quicker, all my same apps from Ventura work just the same in Sonoma (lots of apps, I'm sort of a digital packrat), and memory management seems to be much better overall.

Not exactly. They aren't giving details which probably means they are waiting for enough folks to get patched before revealing.
It's possible, but normally this is handled by creating an "empty" CVE by temporarily withholding the details. Apple should clearly say whether an update includes security fixes or not, since in many deployments this determines if the update gets prioritized. Saying that you find information about security fixes in HT201222 and then not providing any doesn't cut it.

Don't know how I missed this article, but I got the message last night that it's out. I know people are annoyed at how many update releases there are but at least Apple quickly deploy patches to resolve things and not wait ages.

macOS 14.1 has been pretty good for me, although after about 8 days of uptime I started having memory issues and finally had to reboot this morning.
After updating to 14.1.1 I’m already noticing things working smoother, like Finder and Mail. Tested a sleep/wake issue I was having and that’s fixed. Even booting up was a tad quicker.
What sleep/wake issue is fixed? I have mac mini m1 16Gb and my mac is waking from sleep every couple of hours if I have Apple Mouse or trackpad connected with bluetooth.

I haven't been having any issues like that.

What the heck is going on at Apple nowadays. It’s like every OS engineer is from Microsoft, as every day from Mac to Watch, it just constant bug after bug fixes and problems.
H-1B in da house! Party time! ...at one quarter the price, of course.

Explains why there's no month view of appointments in the calendar app on iOS. And basic OS functions like cursor placement and I/O priority in macOS gets worse by the day.

MBA Intel 2020..same concurrence. Forced shutdown. Redownload successful

Thankfully it looks like they reconfigured the massive orange square microphone-in-use icon. Back to the subtle dot. As a user of Boom3D this is very welcome, but just note that it's harder to see now.
