I might be wrong, i am new after all, but i would think the size you're seeing isn't the actual install size you'll be having;
T1, T2 chips, update distribution packaging and how it only chooses what to unpack for you after it's got the one and only single package outgoing for everyone.

So, you know.

You are wrong, because everyone has different download sizes, I you look through this thread, you will see at least 3 different sizes.

Can't believe nobody's said this yet, but everything feels... snappier. 😏

All kidding aside, my Mac (M2 Max studio) hasn't run this well since before I upgraded to Tahoe. Ironically the only major crash I had was when I went to log out of a second user account to do this .0.1 update, but there was serious lag and finder instability. All that seems to be gone so far... (sound of wood being knocked...)

build is 25A362

other builds released today:

macOS Sonoma 14.8.1 (23J30)
macOS Sequoia 15.7.1 (24G231)
iOS 26.0.1 (23A355)
iOS 18.7.1 (22H31)
iPadOS 26.0.1 (23A355)
iPadOS 18.7.1 (22H31)
tvOS 26.0.1 (23J362)
audioOS 26.0.1 (23J362)
visionOS 26.0.1 (23M341)
watchOS 26.0.2 (23R8362) for Ultra 3
watchOS 26.0.2 (23R362) - for other apple watches

for the macOS Tahoe 26.0.1 one we have these:

for sequoia there is this: https://swcdn.apple.com/content/dow...i8ook2pmu37mw39no53j6kyi/InstallAssistant.pkg

and for sonoma: https://swcdn.apple.com/content/dow...90nra9g6swk8iv8qq5wp1ah3/InstallAssistant.pkg

curiously the macOS 14.8.1 and 15.7.1 are lower builds than the rc versions released on sept 22 which were respectively 23J111 and 24G309

presumably there won't be any more rcs for these and maybe the next rcs will be versions 14.8.2 and 15.7.2

I checked for this update minutes after it was publicly released (I think before MacRumors even posted about it), downloaded and installed it on my MacBook Pro. Looked like it was 9.X something GB. Looks like user Promostyle said it was 9.63 GB earlier in this thread.

A few minutes later, I checked for this update on an iMac and it didn't show any update, it just said macOS 26.0 is up to date. It took a few minutes to show up on that computer, and when it did, it looked like a 10.X GB update.

Is there a chance Apple initially posted an update, pulled it due to some issue, then posted it again with the fix?
Different machines get different update sizes, it's normal. Apple packages them with the relevant stuff for your device.

Have they fixed the Wacom bug though? Wacom pen's don't see the new System UI buttons at all so you cannot click on them.

I mean Wacom had like 4 months and 5 Betas to address this with apple... then waited until release then said it's Apple's fault, they need to fix it.

9+ GB update for Pro M3 14" MBP

3 reboots on my Mac M1 Studio (didn't catch the size). Prompted me to login on my Apple account @ (blech toothpaste animated) Welcome screen, like the initial Tahoe release. I declined, suspecting it would kick off disk encryption.

Pro M3 MBP booted up straight away with no welcome screen. Who knows; both appear to be working fine.

10.18GB on my M4 mini. But jeez wtf is with Apple's download speeds? It's telling me 1 day to go on gigabit fiber.

I had issues downloading the initial Tahoe update via Software Update, had to use terminal command.

About 3GB on a 16'' MacBook Pro M3 Max.

I installed macOS Tahoe right after its release because it's easy to roll back to a previous version. I haven't had any issues since.

But I'll stick with iOS and iPadOS 18 for at least a few months 😅

Lucky them, stay on Seqouia. Tahoes is full of bugs.
Generally the best recommendation so you get a thumbs up. But I know the risks and I updated my production machines and I have no issues with Tahoe right now.

M1 and M2 Ultras are probably brute forcing through the sluggish feeling.

I love the idea that nobody at Apple tested Tahoe with Mac Studio Ultras. They really don't seem to give a crap anymore.
This is sort of an edge case bug and didn't affect all Studio Ultras. Supposedly, this bug only happened for those that upgraded to 15.7 before upgrading to 26.0. Both of these were released on the same day. The more common upgrade path (especially during the betas) would have been upgrading from 15.6 to 26.0, which wasn't an issue. Users already on the Tahoe betas weren't affected either.

This is a perfect example that shows why you don't need to update to the latest minor version before going to the next major version. It won't be a commonly tested upgrade path if they're both released on the same day. Still, Apple should have caught this though.

The release bombed my M1 Air with a clock bug. My setting went to 24 hour clock all in its own. Switching that off does not change what’s displayed. Yes I will send my comment off into the maw of Apple.
