Why did you choose to make tea before pressing 'Install'? Seems like the most efficient way to install a MacOS update would be to press 'Install' before you go to make your tea. Maybe Job's sensed your strange decision to make tea before pressing 'Install' and forced an odd change of installer files.. Finder feels snappier though.

Well dah! Because I don't leave an update running unattended on my main work machines in case something goes wrong.

I dislike the aesthetics of the large corners and inset lines in Finder windows, etc. Sticking with Sequoia on my M1 still.View attachment 2575688
Yes on one hand Apple says the top screen bar is transparent and makes workspace looks larger, and on the other hand the Finder has this wasted space on top and lect ar least. Not very consistent. I’m still on optimal 15.7.1 !

I turned LiquidAss off as soon as I installed Tahoe but this has fixed some of my issues on my 2019 19". Without a doubt, hands down, Tahoe is the worst release they've ever pushed. Apple is cooked.

Can someone tell me if this is a good update? When I installed version 26.0, everything was so bad that I went back to Sequoia the next day.

In the meantime, many aspects of interoperability and reliability between devices (iPhone, iPad, AVP, HomeKit, HomePod) have noticeably improved. If you don’t have these devices, I can perfectly understand why you’d prefer to stick with the old system.

Well, I guess it still isn't safe to install Tahoe.
I will keep waiting for Apple to get it's act together.

Looks like Apple fixed the mini player in Apple Music App. I can now add a song to a playlist without enlarging the player. Small but it was annoying.
Does it fix the issue where every playlist folder expands if you make a change to any playlist? Because that has been really annoying. The Music App and Spotlight have been the only buggy parts of Tahoe for me.

Some examples what "Tinted" changes:

It's basically buttons and toolbars where the glass effect is reduced. Other things like the Dock or the Control Center are completely unaffected by the setting.

Great screenshots, thank you.

Big picture: I still don't understand what I'm gaining by having "stuff from behind showing through".

I remember when this started, I think in Safari only originally?, with having the UI get "tinted" by what's behind it, and immediately thought "why they hell would I want that?".

When the tech industry gets tired of all the round buttons and oval text fields where next?

Since they try to refresh their designs twice a decade they are putting themselves in a strange corner by 2030.

They will have two options. Go back to the interfaces of 2015-2025 or go back to sharp corners à la Mac OS 9 and Windows 2000.

yes, this 's 'New Coke', 'ME OS' moment

It would be great if they treated us as valued customers, not mindless consumers.

Anyone using the external boot with AI enabling hack and got 26.1 update to work? I haven't been able to and wondering if that's the problem. 26.0.1 ran just fine.

Waiting for this for years....

Honestly, I would love to see the update stats and compare it with previous rollouts… :D
I don't believe the majority of users pay anywhere near as much attention as the users here which is an insignificant number of overall users. I've updated day one on all MacOS updates since 10.5 and have never had a significant issue in any of them. Minor little things, here and there, but nothing of any consequence.

I have been having a bug with the Dock since macOS 26.1 beta 4 or so, the auto hide does not work.
I tried disable it, then enable it again nothing, now to see the Dock I have to use App exposé.
I have the MacBook Pro M4 Pro

Weirdly, I had no issues with this. 'Your Photos' was there as an option with some pics of our dogs in a folder showing up in Sequoia and all versions of Tahoe. I might be tempted to take a look at the errors in the console app after opening the wallpaper preference panel if this returns.

The Your Photos collection of photos that I use for custom wallpaper just disappeared and there is NO option to add any. That folder contained items form all over my system and not one folder in a location that I can move and return. If anyone knows where the Your Photos were stored prior to 26.1 upgrade, maybe I can just copy that folder or plist or whatever from by time machine backup. Or may it went to a "relocated items" folder and it needs to be put back somewhere?
