That may be the case for servers, but not workstations. Most workstations are not online during the weekend/overnights. At least not 1:1 devices. If the computer is not online, it does not get updated. Plus, in most cases, an Apple O/S updates requires the user to provide their password to complete the update. (The only exception is using DDM to push/enforce the update.)
Kaseya and Addigy beg the difference…
What user password? You can enter your admin password via Addigy or Kaseya. What kind of a regular user has admin privileges anyway?
Kaseya also allows you to turn workstations on if it's connected to the network.

After updating, here is my bug list after about 20 minutes of use. To head off the strangely aggressive comments people usually get with posts like this, I realize these things may work fine for you, but they don't work for me. And yes, I did a clean install of 26.0 when it came out, so these aren't backup issues. I don't run wild and crazy background applications. Please don't hit me again. :(

- Clicking SMB shares in the Finder sidebar still reports "“” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found." instead of reconnecting. Not fixed. (Present since initial release.)

- When using an external Thunderbolt monitor, TextEdit documents in the background continue to be blurry until the windows have focus. Sometimes when they have focus. Sometimes there will be a TextEdit sized hole where it does that thing Windows used to do where anything you drag over that region repeats over and over and over. TextEdit is going through something... (Present since initial release.)

- Wifi icon in the menu bar continues to pulse forever (I use my laptop docked with a network adapter, so no wifi connected). Clicking on it does nothing. (New and exciting!)

- Control center opens once and never again. Clicking on it now does nothing. (New and exciting!)

- Windows now occasionally "flicker" when transitioning from active to inactive and vice versa. (New and exciting!)

I'm not sure if I should update my existing feedback to say it doesn't work in the latest iteration or file new and shiny feedback with different wording with the hopes that it sneaks through some filter.

... or if I should just give up, downgrade to a working OS, and hope the next major version is better. :(

What’s the point of the new edge light, it’s literally makes zero difference using max brightness

Wait, is this something new? I’ve been experiencing this on my M4 iMac for about a month and thought the display was failing. It most often occurs when bringing up a window that had been minimized. It’ll flicker 1-2 seconds, but not always.

I see most of the comments are running M-chip Macs - is anyone still running Intel who can comment on Tahoe / 26.2? (I'm still rocking the 2019 16" Intel Macbook Pro). The interface tweaks don't bother me (at least in photos) but I do want performance and battery life to not be overly impacted.

Does anyone with a family still see the issue in 26.2 that the family avatars aren’t updated or showing in the sidebar in Settings?

My intel iMac is constantly overheating for no good reason. (not even a reason. I just close all apps, leave the room for hours, come back and the fans still are spinning up constantly, for giggles I just booted up into Windows and its completely silent).
Enjoy doing that to a laptop battery or be smart and dont upgrade.

you’ve noticed this on 26.2 already? Might be the corespotlight bug per: https://macos-tahoe.com/blog/macos-...tlight-indexing-bug-most-common---60-of-cases

Games
- Filters in the Games library let you find games by category, size, and more
- In-game challenge score banners provide real-time updates when someone new has taken the lead
- Connected controller support

Why do they even bother touting anything related to gaming? It’s an insult to anybody with a clue. They have not now, will they ever care about gaming in a serious manner on MacOS so stop insulting our intelligence and giving us half-assed garbage like this that nobody cares about.

Spend more resources on improving your in-house AI models and stop wasting resources on this garbage.

Huh...first time I have ever had an issue updating (I switched to Mac in 2006).

I did my usual and tried via System Settings>Software Update. It found the 26.2 update, but after 10 minutes, it still never downloaded anything, so I cancelled out of it. I re-checked via System Settings again about 10 minutes later; the check took a few minutes and came back saying I was on the most current OS. 🤷‍♂️

So, I went ahead and downloaded the full ~16GB installer. I tried updating and left things unattended, came back 20 minutes later to a message saying I couldn't update.
Tried searching for and downloading installer via Terminal just for the whateves, and get this message:

Scanning for 26.2 installer
Scan finished with error: Error Domain=SUMacControllerError Code=7507 "[SUMacControllerErrorAccessRequestDenied=7507] Access request was denied" UserInfo={NSDebugDescription=[SUMacControllerErrorAccessRequestDenied=7507] Access request was denied, NSLocalizedDescription=The software update request for this process was denied as another process is currently performing an operation. Please try again later.}

Ugh....

I'll just chat w/ myself for a bit...

So I re-checked via Software Update and it found 26.2 as available. I selected install now, and have been sitting w/ the progress bar at this point (nothing downloading at all) for the past 5 minutes:

Installation went fine as I can tell on my M4 15" MBA. Not a power user by any means, so haven't really tested much. But everything seems fine for now - watched some Youtube videos and listening to some Apple Music through my AirPods Pro 3. All seemed fine for now, YMMV.

Isn't this in clear violation of the adage of "NEVER release on a Friday"?

That was an emergency....

bleepingcomputer said:
Apple has released emergency updates to patch two zero-day vulnerabilities that were exploited in an “extremely sophisticated attack” targeting specific individuals.

The zero-days are tracked as CVE-2025-43529 and CVE-2025-14174 and were both issued in response to the same reported exploitation.

I was already on RC and Software Updates is sometimes searching for an update without stopping.

But there was an update for the Xcode Command Line Tools. I started it twice and it always came back like this with the red 1 on the System Settings icon:

Screenshot 2025-12-12 at 21.41.37.png

Looked like that when I tried it a third time.

Then I downloaded it from here and it was gone after installing. Very strange.

But there was an update for Safari Technology Preview two days after the RC had been released. That one got installed without any problem.
