Apple today released macOS Ventura 13.2, the second major update to the macOS Ventura operating system initially released in October. macOS Ventura 13.2 comes more than a month after macOS Ventura 13.1, an update that added the Freeform app and other changes.

The ‌macOS Ventura‌ 13.2 update can be downloaded for free on all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Settings.

The update adds Security Keys for the Apple ID, allowing for physical two-factor authentication, which offers more protection against phishing and unauthorized account access. The update also rolls out Advanced Data Protection for iCloud to all users globally.

macOS Ventura 13.2 also fixes a bug with Freeform and addresses an issue that could cause VoiceOver to stop offering audio feedback when typing. Apple's release notes for the update are below.
This update introduces Security Keys for Apple ID, and includes other enhancements and bug fixes for your Mac.

- Security Keys for Apple ID allow users to strengthen the security of their account by requiring a physical security key to sign in
- Fixes an issue in Freeform where some drawing strokes created with Apple Pencil or your finger may not appear on shared boards
- Fixes an issue where VoiceOver may stop offering audio feedback while you are typing

Some features may not be available for all regions, or on all Apple devices. For detailed information about the security content of this update, please visit: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT201222
Additional information on all of the features available in macOS Ventura can be found in our dedicated roundup.

Apple has also released macOS Big Sur 11.7.3 and macOS Monterey 12.6.3 for those who are running older versions of macOS. The updates include security fixes.

Raise your hand if you also went thru the apple logo then click in About->More Info and they got stuck in the new settings app because you couldn't find the Software update option and got confused there for some minutes and... then when you found the "Check for updates" it didn't show the new update :(

MacOS 13.2 was more of some fixes and provided support for the 2023 Macs just released. I only had very minor software issues with this beta cycle using a M1 24" iMac and a 16" M1 Max MBP, I currently don't have anything that is a problem still.

Oh boy, I hope it fixes the issue with pasting a URL to a PDF in Mac mail. Mine is currently automatically deleting the URL and inserting an attachment of the PDF (which, first of all, is never going to be what I want to happen), but then it only attaches the 1st page of the PDF.

So it basically confuses the recipient and makes you look incompetent at the same time. 🤣

Yes, you can change it back to a URL before sending, but not at all ideal. It's not exactly fun when shooting off quick emails.

UPDATE: after updating to 13.2 - Still converts the 1st page of Pdf to an attachment (png) however, it now actually maintains the underlying link. It's strange and confusing. So anyone receiving a URL to a PDF gets an unnecessary attachment, thus obfuscating the actual document linked. And, since there's now an attachment and hidden URL - spam flags will beeuh flyin.

I just feel like preview renders should be done on recipient side (or platform specific...but even this isn't working well on Mac Mail to Mac Mail). Mac Mail to Outlook (PC) is just trash.

I have the opposite issue! When trying to send attached pdf files in mail they are converted to links instead. If I wanted a link I would copy and paste a link, not drag and drop a pdf file.

It's just relearning muscle memory. Back when they removed Software Update from the System Preferences the first time around and put it in the App Store before moving it back to System Preferences was also difficult but I got used to it.

I didn't either, but I refreshed software update (cmd+R) and it searched for a good 3 min, then showed up for download.
Well look there... I use cmd + R to refresh Safari tabs, daily. Never mouse up to the Refresh button. Had no idea that key-command also refreshed Software Update. In doing so, I now see the update is available on my Touch Bar MBP. Cool! Thanks!

Very good experience running macOS 13.2 RC on my 2021 14” MBP since last week. For me, it’s been better than 13.1 and much better than 13.0.

Hope it works well for the rest of you.

Since it rebooted to start the update, my M1 MacBook Pro 16” has been stuck on the progress bar at 75% for about the last 20 minutes. Is anyone else experiencing this?

edit: it finally finished, but it appeared stuck for about 40 minutes, in case this happens to anyone else.
