Raise your hand if you also went thru the apple logo then click in About->More Info and they got stuck in the new settings app because you couldn't find the Software update option and got confused there for some minutes and... then when you found the "Check for updates" it didn't show the new update :(
Software Update is in the same place as iOS so I found it easily, but its not available for my Mac yet.

Oh boy, I hope it fixes the issue with pasting a URL to a PDF in Mac mail. Mine is currently automatically deleting the URL and inserting an attachment of the PDF (which, first of all, is never going to be what I want to happen), but then it only attaches the 1st page of the PDF.

So it basically confuses the recipient and makes you look incompetent at the same time. 🤣

Yes, you can change it back to a URL before sending, but not at all ideal. It's not exactly fun when shooting off quick emails.

UPDATE: after updating to 13.2 - Still converts the 1st page of Pdf to an attachment (png) however, it now actually maintains the underlying link. It's strange and confusing. So anyone receiving a URL to a PDF gets an unnecessary attachment, thus obfuscating the actual document linked. And, since there's now an attachment and hidden URL - spam flags will beeuh flyin.

I just feel like preview renders should be done on recipient side (or platform specific...but even this isn't working well on Mac Mail to Mac Mail). Mac Mail to Outlook (PC) is just trash.

I’m about to give up on Apple Mail on desktop. It’s just hot garbage, lacks features and has been behind/buggy for years.

13.1 is a nest of bugs. Let's see what's it's been fixed in this release, but I wouldn't be very optimistic
This has been the first time I update macOS before the .4/.5 release and it has been a big mistake
This reminds me of when they were transitioning to Intel and every fix seemed to break the OS on one of the architectures but not both.

Activating the iCloud's encryption is a nightmare. You have to erase all the devices that can't be updated to Ventura. Clearly they are forcing us to buy new devices. And also there are some interface bugs. This is unfair. Apple making friends once more :-(

Perhaps this will include the native steering wheel support we were promised.

Stage Manager is still the most half baked implementation of multitasking that I have seen. It defaults to automatically minimizing an app when you select another app. You should have the right to minimize apps to the left, and not have it be automatic, because it makes it very cumbersome when you want to work in two apps side by side.

Man, I’ve started using my iPad Pro (16.2) on my kitchen table with an external monitor to replace a pc I used to have there.

it works and I sort of like it, but it’s definitely not the best experience yet.

Every time I disconnect from or turn off the external monitor it always defaults back to mirrored display when I hook it back up? Why Apple? And you hide the settings we need all over the setting menu! Stage Manager should remember how you set up your monitors when you re-hook things up.

Also, I have Magic Trackpad 2 which is way way better than a mouse, but it’s still not as good as using a desktop. Do we really need the circle instead of a pointer, and why doesn’t it move as nice and smooth? Apple please make the multitasking multiple monitor experience on iPad just as good as MacBook pro pretty pls!!

Also, multiple audio sources is handled like ****. I set it up for my bluetooth speaker but it alway forgets every time the speaker shuts off. So I have to go back to that hidden setting (that took me quite a few google searches to discover) to set the audio device to use. Ugh..

Also can you connect Siri to ChatGPT pls so it can actually be useful!?

Are you sure about that? I just signed out of iCloud on the old (2011) MBP and then it was fine on the others. Ditto for a very old iPad.

Yes, pretty sure. It forced me to delete all the devices without latest versions of iOS and macOS in order to continue with the activation process. And I don't think I should be the only one...

It seems like the WiFi latency issues with the airplay/airdrop AWDL service have been resolved or at least majorly improved on 13.2.

The issue was that on WiFi you would ger frequent ping spikes from around 4ms to over 100 or even multiple hundreds. This made latency sensitive application, like Geforce Now game streaming, almost impossible.

There are still ping spikes, but they are much less frequent as long as you set Airdrop to to `No One`.

For reference, here is a popular article on the topic:

MacOS 13.2 was more of some fixes and provided support for the 2023 Macs just released. I only had very minor software issues with this beta cycle using a M1 24" iMac and a 16" M1 Max MBP, I currently don't have anything that is a problem still.

Released today

  • iPadOS 16.3 (20D47) - January 23, 2023

My 2019 MacPro did NOT like the 13.2 install. It made it through a few reboots, but, when restarting to do that final "About 10 minutes remaining" that is common for Intel upgrades, it went dark, powered off. Starting it back up and trying to log in resulted in it crashing again a few moments after I put my password in.

Booting in verbose mode and making a video of the process showed only IPv6 related log lines - nothing obvious about why it would not boot. Tried several times in a row, no joy.

Thankfully, I have a backup "Admin" user and rebooted again and logged in as that, and it's about a minute remaining on finishing whatever was not completed during the 16.2 install.

I do have a few likely contentious software packages installed, well, Parallels - nothing else should be causing an issue, and all previous Ventura installs went fine. Not a good morning here.

I just upgraded to 13.2 from 12.6. So far, it's running like it was on Monterey. MBP 16" M1 Max

Still, I have two backups (TM and a cloned drive) if I need to revert.

Holding Shift to boot safely and login as my normal user made some progress, but, can see in the kernel panic Apple report the extension com.apple.iokit.IOSCSCIArchitectureModelFamily(476.81.1) seems to be an issue.

Bad day ahead.

Major bummer; I upgraded my M1 iMac to 13.2 and lost Apple Pay, with a cryptic message about my Mac's security. Had to boot into the options menu and turn off third party extensions entirely to get it back, meaning several apps lost functionality (DriveDx can no longer report on drive heath for USB disks now for example.)

Update Day is my favorite Apple related holiday. It's just so relaxing to update all the devices one after the other. 😋

With the exception of the laptop, as I use that for work and don't want to reboot it with an update until the weekend.

I had an odd issue with Logitech G Hub (also a startup) with 2nd beta of 13.2, its like it needed to boot a few times then it was working again. So might be similar that you need to double check system permissions, or even uninstall or reinstall.
