Thanks. This is happening on my brand new M2 13-inch MacBook Pro. I tried restarting over and over, at least 5 times, and it didn’t work. I will try tomorrow. It could just be a demand issue, with the servers possibly serving up a faulty update and the update isn’t getting verified successfully.
The question would be at what stage is it failing. Is it during download or while trying to install it?

Hello
The firewall bug ist still there. Changes is the firewall setting UI are not reflected in /Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist and therefore they are gone with the next logoff or reboot.

They were usually fun/useful examples of how underlying technology changes/additions could be used though. Emoji are not.
That’s subjective, when the iPhone X was introduced with animoji a lot of people found it impressive and a cool selling point.
But either way, usually if they ever talk about emojis on stage, it’s followed by a much more interesting announcement like Apple Pay cash or iMessage in the cloud or SharePlay.
Those are all useful features, whatever you think of the emoji talk.

- Settings App
- Stage Manager

Those are significant interface changes, confusing ones.
Not really, stage manager is basically hidden, disabled by default, and totally and completely optional.
The settings app is just a Settings app, it does whatever settings apps have done since the beginning of Settings apps, people just hate when things even slightly change.
Which again is amusing because of all the people asking for the iOS icons to be redesigned… For no reason

How about something serious like: solves all issues with external drives? Ventura made 5x 18TB drives unusable unless I unplug them from the 5X housing and shove them in an old usb open drive thingy. Why is it so often 2 steps forward and 5 steps back in a place you would never expect?
Exactly. I have a 2T standard NVMe external drive that has always worked perfect, and now that I have a Mac Studio with M1 Ultra, it takes like 2 minutes to boot if the drive is connected, and I use it as a Time Machine backup. I called for support and they act like they know nothing of the issues with external drives, yet it's everywhere!! Come on Apple, you force about everything to be external, and now have compatibility issues with standard USB/Thunderbolt external drives that have been around forever. Frustrating to say the least.

It’s failing after it has finished downloading and the computer needs to restart. When I click on the restart now button, it gives the error notification and restarts the entire 4.5 GB download all over again.

What issue is that?
The keyboard keeps going into sleep mode, inconsistently; sometimes after 1 minutes, sometimes a few seconds, other times 10 minutes. It's supposed to go into sleep mode only after 15 minutes, which WAS happening in Monterey but something in Ventura broke that.

The only real fix for that is to use Logitech's "Bolt" receiver (no, not the unifying receiver, those are incompatible for some reason).

You are in the minority on this one.

Not everyone has to like the same things, I like Stage Manager use it every day now and with the settings app, I just Right Click on the System Settings Icon in the Dock, then I can pick exactly which panel I want from the pop-up menu. I still recall the system 7/8 version called Contol Panels that were just like files loose in a folder! Change is good. IMHO. :)

Apple needs to stop half-assing at this point and just give us an EmojiOS.

That would mean Apple appropriating the culture of Ancient Egypt.

Worst update experience yet for me. Apple Studio with M1 Max. Computer crashes after about 30 to 45 minutes of use. Has don this at least seven times so far! Don't install!!!
Try running in Safe Mode to start. See if it runs better with minimal third party software interference with connected devices not present.

You might need to just simply make a external APR backup ( I make snapshot using Carbon Cop Cloner) for your Mac M1 Max Studio and have Apple Store appointment do a DFU Restore/full wipe and reinstall the latest MacOS available (s/b this beta soon), at least the RC/Public of 13.3. You do Migration Assistant with APR backup to bring back (settings/apps/files) everything except stuff that is obvious its old and shouldn't be migrated and placed in a separate folder with stuff not installed. Yes sometimes you need to go this distance because something was corrupted in system/FW and it is a full factory reset that is better than a so called clean reinstall.

I found once that things went strange - hung for quite a while - when I hit the restart button, but were fine if I just left it to restart by itself.

I must be in the minority - updated both the M1 Mini and M1 Air....no crashes, errors, download issues since updating. *shrug*

Took about 20-25 minutes to install once it was downloaded. I don't use the emoticons, its not my jam. Hope there was some more useful stuff in there and not 4.5gb of mini images I'll never use. Different strokes and all.

does anyone have any issue since this update that when you turn on your laptop and put in your password when it goes to the home screen the screen goes black for maybe 2-3 seconds then goes back to normal and everything otherwise is completely fine? never happened to me before til this update weird thing is I updated it last night and it was fine, turned it on this morning and it was fine..left it on for hours when I ran some errands, came home all fine but when I had to turn it on again tonight thats when it happened

Yes, the exact same thing happens to me. In addition, it also occurs during charging with the apple logo when turning it on. Yesterday I contacted apple and they told me that between today and tomorrow they would give me an answer. I tried reinstalling mac os but it didn't work. If you manage to solve it tell me how please.
