I had a problem with Deepl on my friend's Intel Mac when updating Ventura. He had installed the app some time ago there and it seemed corrupted in 13.3 and could not be opened afterwards. Uninstalling apparently didn't help. The message kept coming up that the application was corrupted and should be sent to the trash. In the end, I used EasyFind to remove all rests in visible and invisible folders and succeeded afterwards on reinstalling it after which it worked without problems.

Since everything works for me on Monterey (16" M1 Pro) I'm wondering whether it's even worth moving to Ventura - I'm mostly interested in E2E encrypted iCloud drive + YubiKey 2FA features, which I can't use unless I am on Ventura and iOS 16.

Is anyone experiencing some deal-breaking bugs even in 13.3 ?

Yes, the exact same thing happens to me. In addition, it also occurs during charging with the apple logo when turning it on. Yesterday I contacted apple and they told me that between today and tomorrow they would give me an answer. I tried reinstalling mac os but it didn't work. If you manage to solve it tell me how please.

Happened again now when I Turned on the macbook..goes to the home screen after I put in my password, then goes black for one second then comes back..strangest thing ever..and funny thing when I chatted with apple last night I asked her if anyone has reported this issue and she said "no" now I understand not every single issue gets reported but Ive seen at least 5 people here with the same problem so its something..and not sure how to fix it..one person said something about FileVault I dont know what that even is LOL

Are you using external harddrives? There are issues reported on external drives, I have experienced these myself and on the apple support forum there are more than enough "me too" on this subject to check it out.

Anyone else still have this issue that occurred in 13.2? Finder showing broken Icons in Sidebar for locations. Filed as FB11984266, and this regression still present in 13.3.

Also any Photos based screensavers are not displaying correctly on External Displays, internal display on MBP works as normal. Filed as FB12086527

Just annoying as there are both regressions each time.

Yea I use couple of LaCie drives, I remember Monterey having its own set of problems, which have been resolved later…looks like it’s happening again with new release. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yep, it's fixed my issue with SMB file sharing! Got it installed on my M1 MacBook Air, and my two 15" MacBook Pros that have it installed via OCLP (my 2012 unibody 15" MacBook Pro and my 2015 Retina 15" MacBook Pro), and it feels good to not have to boot one of the Intel Pros into Target Disk Mode and connect it to my Air via Thunderbolt just to share some files. (Though I may still do this for a few huge files, like my iMovie or Final Cut Pro libraries.)

"Since everything works for me on Monterey," (2019 16" MBP), I'm staying with Monterey because it just works, and I'm able to focus on using it rather than engaging in a seemingly endless relationship with the OS itself.

A clean install of Ventura 13.2 using Migration Assistant from a Carbon Copy backup of Monterey was just ongoing trouble, most particularly how changes/additions to the Calendar could not be searched by the new improved, Spotlight, even though the changes would propagate successfully to iCloud and my other devices. Rebuilding Spotlight, either through Spotlight or Command Line, made no difference. Neither did creating a new user, over time. No fix or suggestion or joy from Apple Support or a referral to "engineering."

Does it not seem to (most of) you that Ventura is still rife with, not Easter eggs but, little velvet bags of poop? It's wild-a$$ flaky as far as I can tell, and I'm not going to touch it again, until, well, maybe never. Time will tell.

I agree about missing the availability of full iCloud encryption, but I just can't beat getting actual work done. Every day.

The 13.3 update was showing as 11GB for me. Then I unenrolled from public betas and it showed as 2GB. Odd...

I am also amazed that I did not have to go through half of the new user prompts ….
It’s weird. I didn’t get the new user prompts on my Mac Studio Ultra. But I did get them on my 2023 Macbook Pro. And on that, the checkbox to move my desktop and documents to the cloud was checked - which is never what I wan’t. Lucky I noticed!

MacBook Pro 16 2019 ( i9 / 16GB / 1TB )

After 13.3 update the same problems/issues/bugs...

1. After restarting and opening Mail.app, it doesn't show Favorites bar.
2. Preview icons in third-party apps like PDF Expert is not displayed
3. The Eject buttons for external disks is misplaced
4. Stack photos in iMessage when you open to Preview them, there is a "ghosting"

There are more but the above ones are what infuriates me.

Can you post a link or provide more info on this? Very important for the video production community that uses storage mounted via SMB.
It appears that the bug still exists and the file sharing issue still needs to be resolved. This is something that Apple needs to take seriously, as you point out, Terry.

does anyone have any issue since this update that when you turn on your laptop and put in your password when it goes to the home screen the screen goes black for maybe 2-3 seconds then goes back to normal and everything otherwise is completely fine? never happened to me before til this update weird thing is I updated it last night and it was fine, turned it on this morning and it was fine..left it on for hours when I ran some errands, came home all fine but when I had to turn it on again tonight thats when it happened
yes! I have the same issue, after updating to 13.3 in my case it goes black exactly 2 times one time when mac is loading and there an Apple logo and progress bar, second one when I'm entering the password, just like in your case.I have ran diagnostics and it said there no hardware issues.I contacted apple and I will have call tomorrow with engineer. I'm using MacBook pro 14 inch 2021. And everything else is working just fine as it was

my m1 mpb is running 3-4 degrees hotter after the update than before (13.3 vs 13.2). And when running a 13.3 VM via UTM the higher temp compounds and runs 7-8 degrees hotter. i wish i could revert, but i don't have a time machine backup. bummer.

So I had call with apple today, we tried to boot it in safe mode(screen goes black even in safe mode). After I sent them video they said you should reinstall mac os. I don't think it can solve the problem and even if it may solve the problem does everyone need to reinstall mac os? I just don't have enough time and nerves to reinstall mac os and all my tools that I need for work. Hope more people will report about this bug. Here is video how it looks like

Yeah whenever they tell me to install the OS again I dont bother cause it wont solve anything..the issue is the 13.3 update..never had an issue before but its up to you what you want to do honestly I dont think it will solve anything but its worth a try..its some kind of bug in the software cause last night just one time it did NOT do it but then this morning it did it again so its some sort of bug issue

Yet another website that won't work with Safari, had to switch to Firefox.
Ventura has been a real mess

I don't expect that you got a thoughtful response on this? Mine goes out for 5 seconds almost immediately after logging in.

Oof. Since updating, QuickLook has become useless. Whether in the Finder or in an open dialogue from another app, previews don't load. If you work with a gazillion video and graphic docs a day, that makes the Finder next to useless.

The only solution I've found is to force quit Finder. But then, after a few successful previews, it's back. Anyone else have this problem – or find a real solution?

I've had a Mac since 1984 and, if I don't get a solution soon, this will be the first time I have to uninstall and go backwards in systems. I really miss the days when the MacOS was pretty damn rock solid AND the UI kept to its own elegant Mac-like principles.

Add me to the list of those seeing the blackout after entering my password. 2021 MBP
