Apple today released macOS Ventura 13.6, the sixth major update to the macOS Ventura operating system. macOS Ventura 13.6 comes almost two months after the launch of macOS Ventura 13.5.

The ‌‌‌‌macOS Ventura‌‌‌‌ 13.6 update can be downloaded for free on all eligible Macs using the Software Update section of System Settings.

According to Apple's release notes, ‌macOS Ventura‌ 13.6 introduces important bug fixes and security updates. Apple recommends that all users install the software.

Apple's security support document confirms that the update addresses several security vulnerabilities that may have been actively exploited against versions of iOS before iOS 16.7.

macOS Ventura will soon be replaced with macOS Sonoma, the newest version of macOS that Apple plans to release on September 26. Apple has also released macOS 12.7 for those who are not able to update to Ventura.

Rather than add to the chorus of "not showing for me, yet" I will just express my frustration that I just had to reboot my machine (a painful process as I had so many things open) - so I checked beforehand that there were no updates that I had been putting off (and, of course, there were none).

Install issues on 2019 iMac without T2. Seems to be the typical update at this point. Download, restart to install, install progresses, then suddenly boots into recovery mode, need to click SHUT DOWN, then physically turn machine back on to continue the install. Gets "stuck" at the point where T2 would be updated.

Just got a new Macbook air 15 and just updated to the latest version yesterday. It is so much faster than my 16" 2019 Intel MBP. I am also replacing it with my old windows machine I am giving my mother.

Ugh - right before Sonoma - fine
Why ‘ugh’? I won’t upgrade to Sonoma for at least the next 6 months. I prefer stability on my Mac: I only upgraded to Ventura after the release of 13.4. Therefore I am glad Apple released 13.6 (and 13.6.1 in the future) so I know my Mac remains safe before I upgrade to Sonoma in a couple of months.

Yeah. The Monterey one is not the same as RC3 (build 21G814). This release is build 21G816

Likewise for Ventura. The RC3 was build 22G116. The release is 22G120.

Unlike the previous Monterey RCs this one did not come as a delta update (at least not for me). It is downloading the full 11GB version which is taking much longer. That's just to go from 21G814 to 21G816 - like killing an ant with a sledgehammer.

However if you didn't get the Monterey 12.7 RCs then going from 12.6.9 (build 21G726) to 12.7 should come as a delta.

Anyway the full installers are here:

Monterey 12.7 build 21G816: https://swcdn.apple.com/content/dow...3dpjg6ii9i5bjkhihj59qxaj/InstallAssistant.pkg

Ventura 13.6 build 22G120: https://swcdn.apple.com/content/dow...e9rflzb3z3pr6vbp0gxyk2eh/InstallAssistant.pkg

The Ventura one also comes with an ipsw: https://updates.cdn-apple.com/2023F...1820931/UniversalMac_13.6_22G120_Restore.ipsw

Also out is Safari 16.6.1 for Big Sur and Monterey:
