yes, it crashes a lot, etc but it always recovered sanely and I was eagerly waiting the update
Now the update comes...
"sorry, we cannot complete your purchase because your video card does not meet the minimum specs for this purchase"
The trial version isn't available on the App Store but must be downloaded from the vendor's (Apple) website. Same as with other programs in the App Store that have trial versions.Isn't "trial" software against the App Store terms of use?

The Final Cut Pro update is not available to me.The updates are in the Mac App Store, same place you got the apps.
Sounds like it was a bug. When FCP 10 launched I remember reading that a lot of people were able to install it even though their GFX card was on the not supported list. Contact Apple for a refund. Or just wait and see if someone finds a work around for it....except if that was true why didn't app store catch that before I spent $400 on fcp x, compressor and motion?
If you get made fun of by a mainstream talk show then I think you've left the 'blip' area and moved on to bigger pastures.Hardly. This is a blip compared to, say, the whole iPhone 4 antenna-gate because a whole lot more people are tuned into the iPhone than FCP.
Yes. But you don't expect Apple to eat their own dog food do you?
I found this way to install the update somewhere, and it worked.
Put your FCPX in a folder and place the folder in the trash. Go to FCPX in the App Store and click install. It will install the new FCPX with the Update. Then you can throw away the old FCPX. All the projects, preferences, etc., will remain in tact.

It's getting there...it's slowly getting there.![]()
I believe that you are correct. What happened to XML importing being a 3rd party program? Isn't that what Apple said when they released FCPX?

I am 94% a professional editor. At first I was very angry so I changed over 20 editing suites to Adobe Premier. The cost was huge, the training was expensive, but now that this FCPX update came out, I find that I made a mistake changing over to Adobe. I am now changing back to FCPX for all 20 editing suites and my corner office. By the end of the day, all my machines will be back on FCPX. Accounting is asking why I spent so much money based on emotion. I told them to FtheFOff. I am the manager.
ETA: I have edited over 150 shows to boot.

I had these problems also...you have to delete the app, then go to the Mac app store purchased tab and redownload which will be the newer version.
Maybe its an oversight, but has anyone yet seen a way to export just a portion of your timeline? This is the one thing I miss in the FCPX. Everything else I'm a big fan of. I am 100% a "professional editor" and have now transitioned most of my workflow to FCPX. I still run FCP7 for a few projects that need to maintain compatibility with other editing stations, but usually I'm the one cutting and I can't tell you how much time FCPX has saved me. I just need to not have to make an entirely new project just to copy and paste in the clips i want to isolate to render.. thats all.
And enough with this "iMovie on steroids" crap. What the heck was FCP7 other than iMovie, but much more powerful?
You're arguing with people who use software to edit pet videos and skateboarding competitions it's a losing battle.
I'm glad Apple fixed SOME of the issues but the multi-cam in 2012 just means most professionals won't switch until at least 2012.
I personally disagree.. I'm a pro.. and I'm using it.
I think X is a fantastic piece of software and am welcoming it 100%. Knee jerk reaction for sure, but I took it on as a challenge, honestly I now hate when I have to go back to 7. Once you submit to its way of thinking you'll start to understand that Apple actually did know what they were doing (missing features and botched release aside).

Antenna-gate seemed like a run-of-the-mill product defect situation but the whole launch of FCP 10, starting w/the last minute preview at NAB, was just so filled with mistakes and very un-Apple in its clumsiness that, IMO, it's one of their worst product launches ever.
