It's about time. It looked really stupid to have to tilt my iPad from landscape mode in my lap to portrait to access the toolbar in Pages.

Plus, I was only successful exporting 1 out of 5 attempts when trying to get documents out of Pages. The other 4 times, I resorted to emailing.

Sounds good to me... Probably my most used iPad apps and I've been waiting on Apple to address some of the issues they've had since launch.

To me having the Pages toolbar in landscape is huge. Easily my biggest WTF? moment when using it for the first time.

Woo Hoo

yeah, I was getting a little fustrated with that last night. working on my sermon with several bullet and sub Bullet points.

let me know if you or anyone loses their documents when syncing the update. I am on page 3 of my sermon for Sunday and I do not want to risk losing what I have. I may wait before I sync (until after I print it out).

I hope they will add "Save to MobileMe" feature. I don't understand why they're not utilizing MobileMe for saps like me that pay for it.

Or even save-to /load-from iDisk!!!

If you are going to charge me $99 / year, at least make it useful for something!!!

Pray for us!

Hey can you work a prayer into your sermon that Apple will let us use video clips in the iPad version of Keynote - Thanks!

Actually you can use video in keynote. I got it to work, but it is cludgy on how to do it.

1. video must be an m4V format (with that extension) - sorry .mov does not work

2. create an event in iphoto to hold those movies, and add the movie to the event.

3. connect your ipad to your mac and go to the photo tab. Check Sync from iphoto, click include videos, click your new event, and then hit sync.

4. now the video is uploaded to your ipad's photo (camera roll)

5. Go to key note and click like you would add a photo. chose the video you just uploaded. then resize and do what you need...

Great news. I know these are 1.0 products, but there is so much promise and excitement in the future of the iPad as a productivity tool, and what is there in iWork is a pretty solid foundation.

With that said, as others have pointed out, iWork desparately needs the ability to save to mobileme.

In the age of the "cloud," it really is crazy that Apple charges 100 bucks for their service and their productivity suite can't leverage it. Let's hope that feature is coming in version 1.2.

Great! Keep the updates coming Apple. Also some iPad versions of your iPhone apps would be appreciated. iDisk, MobileMe Gallery, Remote apps.

Was this a bug or did they realize how stupid it was to have to flip your iPad over 90 degrees to get this? Either way, major Apple fail

It totally is....

I use my MobileMe for everything! It's so worth $99!

Try going to public.mobileme.com/youruserID on the iPad to see if you can upload to it through Safari. I don't know if you can or not... just a suggestion.

I don't have an iPad I wanted a new iPhone and Mac Mini instead! Priorities! Priorities!

Try: gallery.me.com/youruserID or web.me.com/youruserID

??

No! A major Apple fail would be iPads shipped with a used Tampax  instead of an iPad!

This was a little blunder.

No excuse not to have these ready on DAY 1 of release. I can forgive a developer who just got access to the SDK in February being a little late; but Apple has known about this for a while.

Agreed. That said, this is effectively V1.0 (or 0.6) of a "system".

I hope they instigate 3 updates in the next 2 months. Besides solving issues, there needs to be an EARLY solution to major and obvious issues.

My simple question is . . . .

Is that happening?

If not, "what's next"?

Rocketman

Really needs a file manager.

Hopefully this fixes the issue in Numbers where it persistently issues an "undo" on some cells as soon as you tap off them onto something else. Frustrating.

Is anyone else having a problem sending keynote presentations via email?

I've been trying to email a presentation it's about 5 meg when I look at the size on the mac.
Every time i go to send it it lets me fill in the email recipients and type a message but when I click send it says could not send or save getting fed up with typing the same message out again and again!
I think this is a fundamental tool to be able to send presentations via email hope they fix it soon unless it's me doing something wrong?

Bizzare:

I think is Bizarre that pages for iPad does not have a word-count. I know many people might think, why bother? But for anyone writing as students to authors need word counts.

For example, blogging for university; I am required to publish on 'Blackboard' on a weekly basis 300 words for one subject and 600 words on another; we get marks deducted for going over or under. A live word-count is essential.

Additionally, headers and footers; ever written an essay without these? not likely.. and don't get me started on the lack of 'end-note' Bibliography tools for OSX Pages (Ok I know it doesn't work of Mac Office either; pahh!)!

I found the video introductions for pages on iPad very exiting; but hey who needs to text wrap around a giraffe !? not me an any rate. Do I need control over my words; yes I do! I don't think I'll rush out and buy an iPad in the UK when they come; not yet at any rate!

Also; I think is a bit miss-representative to name these apps as iWork; Pages, Numbers and Keynote, if they do not do the same as their OSX big brothers!

Wonder what a trades description Lawyer could make of that one? A word processor without word-count; fit-for-purpose; hummm?
hang on what is it's purpose?
