Well i am crazy, so we have that going for us, but i know what my Bass sounded like before because it would rattle my walls. NO longer.

Play the song “Somebody New” by JoyWave and see what you think...it has some decent bass in it.. it seems like the vocals are louder... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just FYI, I had to go into the update section first and it told me up I was up to date. As I was closing out it notified me that an update was available.

Bass is definitely toned down but I can’t say that it sounds worse, just I can hear the vocals more and it doesn’t shake my walls.

As someone mentioned, it’s nice to update this remotely.

I’m currently updating from work; wonder what changes it brings with it-a huge file.

On a separate note, I hope that HomePod will have a stand-alone app to control it in the near future.

Just listened to a few familiar tracks on mine.
For me, the bass is slightly down, and there's a bit more mid-range.
Listening to some classical music, there is a bit more definition across the strings.
But listening to some rock, like The Who, the bass is less thumpy.

I think they've smoothed out the EQ curve a smidge.

Which is fine.
It still sounds good.

BUT... I think they'd get a lot of good will if they put an EQ adjust setting within the homepod settings, and allow users to tweak it to suit listener preference.

Thanks apple now my homepod sounds garbage wow didnt know they could make it sound worse bass is horrible now

I’d be very curious as to the difference.

Ok. Just had them Side by Side

Impressions are that the 11.3 sounds clearer, the midrange sounds less muffled, the bass for me is definitely tighter and louder, and I believe it is slightly louder too.

I will assume they have changed the DSP so effectively this varies room-to-room and even position-to-position, but it could be the DSP has been tweaked and say for example it was peaking at certain frequencies, the DSP has flattened it more to give a more natural and true sound, hence the reduction in bass for some people.

That was my initial impression as well, that the vocals were quite a bit more prominent. Whether that meant that the bass was lowered or what not, I wasn't sure about. . .but one thing I was positive about was the vocals. I think it sounds pretty good. I also picked it up, moved it around, etc so it would re-calibrate (I don't know if you need to unplug it as well or not).

I unplugged mine 10 mins after update and moved it.

EDIT: just swapped them around (side by side) to make sure and 11.3 still sounds better.

Hmm.. so mounting evidence that sound profile has changed.

Better or worse seems dependent on position.
