I disagree with the reason you disagree.

you don't fix a problem (battery draining) that some, but definitely not all, have but slapping on another button. You fix the problem at the sofware root. I believe the problem is real, and maybe it has already been fixed, or maybe its in the next fix, but I have faith it will be fixed for those that have the problem (I personally do not). I have come to really really really appreciate that to use the headphones I just have to pick them up off the desk and put them on my head. Certainly a first world luxury to not have to worry if they are on or off, or take the time to flick a switch, but it is a luxury I enjoy. Do not want it taken away to fix a problem I do not have.
I have seen a few of your comments and just wanted to say that I 100% agree with the few snippets regarding the convenience and usability of the APM.
The only real drawback for me too is the price and even then after paying close to $900 here in Canada (taxes are through the roof and everything is more expensive here) it is by far the best headphone I have ever had…
-They are as close as “put and play” as it can be.
- It stops whatever was playing when taken of to answer someone or say, go for a glass of water, without having to reach the stop button of the player, safari window that was with a YouTube vid, etc.
- This works on Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV. The switching between Mac, iOS and iPadOS works amazingly well (again, in my experience). Noise cancelling is bar none. Transparency is like if I didn’t have the headphones on me myself.
Sure, sometimes it might need a two button press reset here and there the odd day, sometimes the battery might wake up lower than usual, but for me getting ready in the morning gives them enough time to charge over 70%, enough for a few days more of modest use.
If these firmware updates just bring more reliability and improvements, then by all means keep’em coming… I just hope they don’t break anything that was already working. There’s that saying: “if something is working at 90% efficiency any fool can make it worse, it takes exponentially hard work and carefulness to increase that to 91%”
Quite a few of the conveniences are actually also available with others like the AirPods Pro but I find myself gravitating towards the Max as much as possible.
