I’ll have to try this later tonight when I can download 18.1 on WiFi and see how it compares to my audiologist graph I had 4 months ago.
From the reviews I have seen, people said that the numbers were quite similar compared to their audiologist's results.

What happens after the test is done? So it calibrates your AirPods to the proper level according to this test? Will this re calibration work with iTunes music from your phone and incoming calls etc?

That's right: you can calibrate the AirPods according to the hearing test results. This will apply to call, music and also ambient sound, to essentially act as hearing aids.

So I can’t figure out how to apply the hearing test. In the AirPods Pro hearing health section under that, how do I turn hearing assistance on? It says off and I already took the test but can’t seem to turn it on.

Ahh I finally found it, now under AirPods Pro health section it says Hearing Assistance Hearing Aid and Media Assist are ON. I’m not sure what I did but I finally got it to turn on.

The weirdest thing happened today, my APP2 case firmware has been downgraded from 71.7.0 to 54.26.1
Ok, so it's back to 71.7.0 after a couple of hours...

I took the hearing test twice. For the first test I had 17db and 18db left and right, respectively. On the second test I had 18db on both ears. I must have run into a bug because it couldn’t find the first test requiring me to take it a second time in order to activate the hearing assist features. But once I took the second test, the first one reappeared. I hope the tests don’t vanish again and force me to take it again because when it couldn’t find the first one, I couldn’t turn on the hearing assist functions at all. I don’t want to keep re-taking the test.

I turned on the hearing aid and immediately noticed a difference. The TV actually sounded less dull and I could hear the sound of the neighbor’s air conditioner better (not necessarily a good thing, lol). Everything still sounded quite natural. Apple’s transparency mode has always been top notch and even with hearing aid turned on, it still sounds like I’m not wearing AirPods. So far, so good. Even though Apple pegs my hearing loss as mild, I still seem to get a benefit from the feature.

The one thing I can’t figure out with the new hearing aids. If you have the hearing aid feature turned on then you get into your car, my car uses Bluetooth to connect my phone and plays music through my car stereo system. The hearing aid feature then cuts off the music on my car stereo system and wants to connect to the music on my phone. I guess you can’t use the AirPods as a hearing aid feature and also connect to a car Bluetooth system.

Yep, I ran into this yesterday when my CarPlay fired up and all the sound was routed to the headphones. I tried disconnecting APP2 from the phone but I think the HA function was all jacked up. Would be nice to know how to connect to CarPlay and have it leave the APP alone if they are in HA mode.

Exactly maybe apple will find this out and issue an update on the iOS to add a toggle to use car Bluetooth to enjoy music and use the car interface including car play. One would think apple would have known about this issue. It must be happening to others as well.

I’ve noticed after using the new hearing aid feature that it suppresses the sound of your music. It definitely increases volume to your ear that needs it after your test but it also sacrifices the true sound of your music making it sound more muddy like all bass and no highs.

If you toggle back and forth between your hearing aid adjustment sound to without it. It affects your music. For me it sounds like they are compressing the sound to compensate how much volume you need for each ear. It’s definitely more balanced with hearing assist on while listening to music but it also affects the equalizer and makes it worse. If I turn it off the hearing aid feature for music and media the equalizer is much louder and music sounds better and fuller overall which is weird. I can’t figure it out.

What apple should add is after you loaded in your hearing test and you toggle on media and music. They should allow an additional accommodation like they do with Vocal Range set to slight or moderate or strong. Or Brightness set to Slight, moderate or strong. But they don’t allow any additional tweaking like they do in regular settings>accomodations>audio/visual>headphone accommodations
