That's nuts. I'm using iOS 16 and my APM have not seen any unusual battery drain. Have you tried resetting them?
They don’t have a power button…I’m at the mercy of the software. My guess is that I’ve been listening to a lot of Atmos content and personalized spatial audio is hogging more power than it should.

With the 2nd generation I have these problems:

Sometimes I have static noise on the left earpiece. The range is not very good. I walk only 4 steps into the kitchen and the connection breaks. Every now and then the connection breaks or the earpieces do not connect (I also have with the first generation).

i have been having a huge battery drain with my airpods max. like i charge them to 100% before i go to bed, dont use them, put them in their case and then wake up with 0% battery. that is totally unacceptable. I have isolated this issue to find my. if i disable find my in the airpods settings, the drain stops. however, the find my setting automatically enables itself again after a few hours which is very annoying. theres nothing i can do and it's impossible to use my airpods like that cause they're always dead.

Yeah, I have these headphones as well and I'm quite aware they don't have a power button. You can still reset them. I mentioned that because the power draw you mentioned is not normal (nor is what @thatmrcl describes above).

No guarantee a reset will work, but it's a basic troubleshooting step.

I agree it's not normal, haha. A reset can work wonders on airpods sometimes, so yeah i agree with that too. I tried resetting mine multiple times but it didnt do anything for me in this case unfortunately.

Having just arrived at the Airpods Pro party I'm wondering the same. Presumably one can choose not to install these upgrades? I'm perfectly happy with my new APP2s and see no reason to risk the ANC for "improvements" I don't need.
No, you can't defer or cancel these updates. You don't even have control on when they get installed.

Hi All,
It was mentioned in this thread that the Ventura beta is not needed. I have downloaded the Xcode beta, enabled the “prerelease beta firmware” in the developer mode on my iPhone and iPad (both running iOS 16.1 betas), and enabled all of my AirPods in the menu to receive the beta firmware. I have my AirPods Pro 2 charging right next to both devices for the past two days and still no update to the newest beta firmware. Is there some step I am missing? Thanks!

When using my AP2s everybody complains about the call/voice quality, original APPs sound far superior everybody says, lets's hope Apple fix that soon please.
There is a plethora of posts and complaints about APP call quality.

Unfortunately everybody I have calls with says the same so I had to switch back to a cabled headset for calls from the expensive APP.

Nothing seems to be improved on the APP2 so no buy for me.

At least it’s nice to know I’m not the only one with this problem.

That sucks. Mine are on my head like 6 hours a day since I use them for all my zoom meetings and watching apple TV. I'd probably take them into the Apple Store immediately, myself, even if it meant paying for a repair :(

The problem is it's not a repair, it's a beta firmware that they shipped as standard. I've had it constantly disconnecting, losing battery at insane rates(inside the case), and ANC quality loss since iOS 16 came out.

You have solidified my decision to hold off on purchasing the second gens. My wallet thanks you!

Is it under AppleCare?

Note that I own AirPods Max, not AirPods Pro 2. You might want to do a little more research as they are running on a different firmware than the rest of the lineup. They were great headphones up until the last firmware update.

Ah sorry, the thread was getting confusing with multiple devices being discussed! I’ve been tempted by the max version as well, haven’t made the leap yet.

Yes but I doubt that they will accept a return over firmware bugs that everyone is having.
Well, if it was me I'd call or take them in, and make them explain it to me why they aren't working correctly. What you're describing is way out of line, and that's on them if it's under AppleCare. Whether it's supposedly a firmware bug (which, again, seems like conjecture since not everyone is having problems) or some hardware defect -- shouldn't be your problem at all.

If you do go for the Max, buy them from Best Buy or Amazon and save yourself $50-100! I do still love the headphones, just the last firmware update destroyed them.

I haven’t received the update either, and there’s my old AirPods Pro in the list of devices that I don’t have anymore. Probably another bug. ;)

Do folks still have issues with Bluetooth AirPods and Zoom? With both Beats Fit Pro and new AirPods Pros, I still get spotty underwater sound and folks say I don't sound good.

Hey Apple, while you are at it: Can you please make my MacBook Pro stop switching my AirPods 3 while I am listening to music on my AppleWatch? Thank you please. To call it annoying would not be precise enough to describe this mess.
