Apple AirPods 2 (non pro) user here. New update might have changed Siri activation sound(or 16.1.1), and switching between iPad 11’ and iPhone X seems a bit more responsive. Mic Audio seems to have gotten a bit less lag.

Updated my 2nd Gen AirPods Pro yesterday and the ANC has been clearly ruined. I compared to my 1st gen and they removed same amount of noise. Super frustrating.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if you’re having the same ANC issue go report it here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/airpods/

It takes 2 minutes and Apple actually reads those, unlike this thread lol
I've submitted three feedbacks over the last month, the first two concerning connectivity issues, and the latest one ANC plus those issues, and each time, I've asked Apple to add "AirPods Pro 2" to the dropdown product list on the feedback page. They still haven't done even that, so be sure to give the full product name, including the generation, in your feedback.

Heres hoping this brings back the great standby battery life I got with 4A400 on my AirPods Max. Prior to 4A400 and later firmware, I was/am losing around 10 percent whilst in the case, over a 18-24 hour period. With 4A400 I was only losing 0-2 percent.
Are you properly using the Smart case. Max goes to deep sleep faster inside the Smart Case. Also unpair and repair to fix small issues

everyone here always complains of theirs not updating but i’ve never had an issue, all i do is put them in my ears and they update themselves within half an hour. don’t even have to be in the case

AirPods Pro (Gen 1) and AirPods Max updated this afternoon without issue.
Plugged them in next to my iPhone on my desk, left them for about 30min, came back, and they were both updated.

I got the update a few hours ago and I noticed the connectivity is much better on AirPods Max. In the prior firmware my iPad would keep asking me to pair the AirPods Max every time I put it on. Now, device switching occurs seamlessly and does so much quicker. Noise cancellation has also improved compared to the previous firmware. When I press the noise cancellation button, it responds quicker as well.

I'm pretty happy with the update so far. Also updated my Air Pods Pro 1st gen and AirPods 2nd gen as well.

What's the exact procedure for connection? The only time I can connect AirPods to my Mac is when they are in my ears. But then AFAIK, they won't update outside of the AirPods case.
Try using the AirPods for 10-15 mins and then put them back in the case. That almost always triggered the update within the half hour. No need for the lid to be open.

It seems my Airpods Pro 1s updated themselves last night. I haven't noticed a difference between me using them a few days ago and today. It should be noted however that I have never noticed a drop in ANC effectiveness in the 18-24 months I have had them. (Except ANC is and always has been shocking whenever I go on a train. Voices and screaming children are much louder than they would be on the street. I think it's an ever so slight pressure difference)

it is probably just me but the ANC sounds weaker in AirPods Pro 2.. Or did I just get used to it.. I don't know anymore, Apple and their airpod firmwares changing basic functionality for no reason made me schizophrenic.

My AirPods 3 started making high-pitched noise continuously after updating, regardless of playing audio or not. The noise isn’t loud but very annoying. I might try resetting the AirPods later to see whether it solves the problem.

I haven't noticed a significant difference in ANC mode with the APP 1 update, but I feel I continue to get my money's worth with Air Pods Pro 1. I plan to upgrade to the second version when I can.

This update might enable LC3 codec for HFP profile (calls, Siri), as this was part of a dev beta earlier in the year.

This update probably doesn’t enable the LC3plus codec for streaming music however, since A2DP profile on Bluetooth 5.0 doesn’t have the bandwidth.

But for AirPods Pro 2, which has Bluetooth 5.3, future updates (not this one I suspect) could enable LC3plus codec (for lower latency and better battery life), since these have the bandwidth for LE Audio profile.

Thanks. Yeah in the case during the period of time I mentioned, and I've done the unpair etc but still suffer it.
I've also had multiple pairs of AirPods Max and all have suffered this. I definitely think it's firmware related as it was briefly fixed with the 4A400 firmware. All previous firmware before 4A400 and later firmware after 4A400 brought back the 10 percent battery loss over the 24 hour period.

I haven't used my APM for the past 2 weeks. When I took it out today to update it, it had 91% of charge. It has 4E71 FW.
