Apple today released new firmware designed for the AirPods Pro 3, prior-generation AirPods Pro 2, and the AirPods 4 models. The firmware has a build number of 8A358, up from 8A356.

There's no word on what's include in the updated firmware, but the prior 8A356 update added iOS 26 features to the AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, and AirPods 4 with ANC. The software introduced better audio quality for phone calls and video calls, studio-quality audio recording for interviews, podcasts, videos, Live Translation, and more.

It's possible that the 8A358 firmware addresses a bug or brings improvements to some of the new iOS 26 AirPods features.

To install the new firmware, make sure your AirPods are in range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. From there, put your AirPods in the Charging Case and connect the Charging Case to power. Keep the case closed and wait at least 30 minutes for the firmware update to install.

Glad to see it - APP3 have a weird pairing quirk with Apple TV where you have to restart the app if paired in the middle of the video, and then they don't auto-pair back to iPhone.

This afternoon, my AirPod Pro 3 suddenly died on their own. I received a notification on my Apple Watch informing me I left my AirPod Pro 3 behind in the office. But they were in my pocket! When I tried to use them in the evening, both the charging case and EarPods buds were completely dead, with LED no longer working, charging not happening, etc.
I contacted Apple Care and will ship back my AirPod Pro 3 for investigation.

Some people online also reported similar sudden “dead” AirPod Pro 3. Maybe I just received a defective product a month ago. Let’s see what Apple says.

That’s happening at the bad time, I’m on a business trip and due to fly back in a few days back to the UK. That means flying without listening to music or watching something :(

My left AirPod pro 2 eats through the battery compared to the right . When the right is on 70 od percent the left is on 28 percentage luckily I have AppleCare
Check your microphone settings. I've seen this mentioned online, if the mic is always defaulting to the left pod, or you always put the left pod in first, that could explain it.

Sorry to hear this. This is one of the reasons why I always bring a backup pair of wired EarPods when I'm traveling or out all day. You just never know. They actually sound pretty decent for a cheap pair of wired buds. They definitely sound better than nothing at all.😉Was a sad day when Apple stopped including them with the iPhone.😐

I don't understand why they won't tell us what is being updated or addressed in updates?

It's maddening.
The Airpods Pro 2 users will be mad, knowing the ANC is purposefully getting downgraded to force users to upgrade to the APP3. Ive said it all the time, again, predicted that the ANC is done due to using foam tips. Which APP2 are able to achieve with third party items. So it is necessary to downgrade the ANC on the APP2, to get that money train going.

Wait - what does case version mean, then? Besides the obvious. Is it meaningful the your case is on a different version number than the two AirPods inside it? How is that even a thing?
My case also just updated to 8A358 so they’re both on the new firmware now. Case firmware is likely things like charging curves, Find My features, connection improvements,…
