I purchased the AirPods Pro 3 on launch day and immediately started hearing what sounded like whistling or high-pitched sound coming from both ears at random times with ANC on (also whether I was playing a song or not)... I replaced these in the Apple Store the next day and before I left the store I tried them again and the issue was repeated.

I read online that possibly I did not have the proper seal on my AirPods Pro but I have never had this issue with my AirPods Pro 2... I just returned from a NYC trip and I picked up another pair of AP3 because I heard there were firmware updates since launch day. Unfortunately, that random whistling/high-pitched sound is still there and I proceeded to sit in a Starbucks for an hour and tried the different ear tips but no matter what that sound happened.

I have now seen in Apple Community Discussions more people are complaining about the same issue I have experienced and hoping the next firmware update will address it... Very disappointed because when the AP3 worked they were better at ANC than the AP2 but that noise is a nonstarter for me.

I’ve had the APP since launch day and experienced this issue twice, today being the second time. It went away after about an hour once I put them back in the case, but it’s still pretty frustrating. Other than that, they’ve been excellent, a truly worthy upgrade from the APP2.

hopefully it fixing my squealing left pod, never suffered this in prior version.
its such a shame, when its not squealing I. can recognise significant sound improvement
fingers crossed.
Hey, I posted to reddit about this but after 3 different sets of APP3, I went and had my ears cleaned by an audiologist. My whistling issue is gone (well very slightly remaining but only noticeable as background noise when no music is playing).

I believe it was a firmware issue. I own two pairs, and the first set experienced the whistling problem twice during the initial week (now they work fine, fyi). However, my second pair has been flawless. I wear them all day without any issues. I even had my ears professionally cleaned the day before launch day, yet the whistling persisted with the first set.

I guess there's no reason there are multiple issues for some users. Mine were on the 358 prior to getting my ears cleaned and still are. I confirmed the issue on the way to the audiologist but then had to wait two days before using any in-ear headphones according to the audiologist anyway. I tested last night (same version) and the issue is gone.

What's the trick to getting the case version on 8A358, I updated AirPods Pro 3 from 8A357 today, the version updated fine, but case version is still stuck on 8A357, I read some had same issue on here, did you solve it?
Seems there's no trick as my Pro 2's case firmware hasn't updated in at least 6-8 months. The AirPods themselves update fine but the case is very stubborn. Then out of nowhere, the case firmware updated last week to the most recent version.. Apple really needs to offer a new way to do updates for their AirPod lineup
