Somewhere in the late public beta for iOS 17.0 and similar stage for Sonoma, AirTags, 8 of mine and 2 shared with me disappeared from the items list on my iPhone SE3 and MBA M2.

None have reappeared on either device.

Strange thing is my watch running public betas never lost track and accurately reports the location of all tags.

No amount of turning off find my, signing out of iCloud, removing/reinstalling app fixes this.

I reported it early on in beta feedback app and with each subsequent update.

Anybody else have this?

I'm going to purchase one for my female partner's cat so it will be, 'Find my cat' in the device menu. Am hoping that generation 2 will have some water resistance and wireless charging.
Have one on both of my cats since the AirTags first launched, only had to change the battery once on both in all that time. They love going outdoors in all weathers and the tags have survived great. It’s never bothered them at all wearing them either even when they were attached like a key ring and dangled. Bought a collar a while ago with a built in AirTag holder so it sits flat these days so it doesn’t get in their way. Front of the tag is exposed as I have their name engraved. Build quality on these things are great.

Apple today released a new firmware update designed for the AirTag item trackers. The firmware features a build number of 2A61, up from the 2A36 firmware that came out last December.

It has been nearly a year since Apple updated the firmware on the AirTags, and there is no word yet on what might be included in the update.

Today's firmware release will be rolling out on a staggered basis. One percent of users will get the update today, and then it will expand to 10 percent of users on November 7. On November 14, an additional 25 percent of users will see the update, and then it will be available to all on November 28.

It is not possible to force an AirTag update, as it's something that's done over-the-air through a connected iPhone. To make sure the update happens, you can put your AirTag in range of your ‌iPhone‌, but you have to wait for the firmware to roll out to your device. You can check your current AirTag firmware version through the Find My app, with instructions available in our how to.

All 7 of mine are running fw 2.036, so I’m still waiting for last year’s update. 🙄

The one tag I have shows firmware 2.0.36. According to the article published last year this is the firmware that is shown in the FindMy app. Absolutely no clue when it got installed.

Nothing have happened to my AirTag's, and I have changed device that I have placed them near.
First the phone and then the iPad Mini 6, but I use those all over, so I figured to place them with the old iPad Mini 5 until they upgrade. Still nothing. I hate these upgrade ways from Apple. I want a way to upgrade things on command as all other upgrades. Yikes.

2.0.61 on both of mine, which I presume is the same as 2A61 ?
The latest AirTag update is version 2.0.61, which will become available to 1% of users today, with a gradual rollout that will be completed on November 28th. The last firmware release was in December 2022 for version 2.0.36 said by Google. So you’re fine. update is version 2.0.61 is latest look google.

I opened "find my" and clicked on AirTag then tapped locate. Walked over to the AirTag until it was located then canceled and left "find my" open next to the Tag. Left it there for about a half hour and when I came back it updated the firmware. Not saying the way I did it is better than any other method but I figure maybe having the device locate the tag might trigger a firmware update faster than just letting them do it on there own.. Then again, maybe I just got lucky

Definitely worth a try as all 3 of mine and 2 shared from a family members account are still on 2.0.36.

I bought a new airtag from Apple which was delivered today. It came with version 1.0.291. Interestingly, the back of the box has a 11/2023 date, although that might be because I had it engraved rather than a sign that Apple is installing an old version on newly manufactured airtags.

Had an issue moving AirTags from a 13 to 14 upgrade. Have 3 tags and none moved automatically. So deleted 2 and rescanned on the 14 and the 3rd one automatically moved. Mysterious.

i hope they fix airtags disconects from findmy network when swiching from wifi to cellular

My AirTags don't upgrade, and I'm tired of trying a lot of things to make them.

2023, and Apple have no better solution. **** this ****.
The AirTags have to eventually sort this out themselves 👿

Apple says all AirTags will update by the end of this month. I check periodically, and mine have not updated yet.
