^^^^ THIS. I love my Beats Fit Pro — except for this glaring design defect. I had one set replaced under AppleCare, but now that’s expired, so when this pair inevitably fails and the wings tear off, I need to what, buy another couple hundred dollar pair of earbuds? Blech. Very very disappointing.
Not to get too off-topic, but how long did it take from when you got them for the wings to tear off? I've had mine for a couple of months now and haven't seen any issues with this yet. I really do like them, so I hope I can get lucky and they stay intact.

There isnt a single person that needs the update *now*
My Powerbeats Pro regularly don't charge a single side or when I put them in my ears, only one side connects requiring that I go back to the case and re-pair them (typically I'm already outside with my bike cleats clicked into my pedals before I realize this). As we don't know what this firmware addresses, if it was something related to this, I'd want to update immediately as this would make my user experience significantly better. These are some of the few headaches my wife and I have experienced with our Powerbeats Pro, but otherwise love them.

I think it was in the 9-12 month range. Mine never came all the way off, they just started to tear more and more over time. I’m glad I had AppleCare, which replaced the pair once under that contract.

I may be mistaken, but was this already present in previous firmware ?

So, I followed the instructions and left them charging, while connected via Bluetooth to my iPhone that was on WiFi. By the way, how would anyone think to do that? And, it still on version 5B66.

Got the new version and this popped up after opening Teams on the iPhone, definitely new.
Works fine with Teams on the iPhone, not yet working with Teams on Mac (Teams update needed?).

I've struggled with this for years. At a firmware level, if they could figure out if it's in the case, but not connected, just shut it off and not drain it to zero. Not a real fix but it'd be better than the current design.

My workaround is to just be super-patient when putting them back in the case. You can use the light on the front of the case as a judge to whether the earbud landed properly and is charging.

- Make sure front case light is off
- Place one bud, make sure light turns on
- Wait for light to turn off
- Place second bud, make sure light turns on
(Insert joke about burying underground away from all movement and sudden jostling from passing trucks - perfect for a workout-centric device)

It's the pickiest connection, but the above works for me. I keep the connectors clean, but certainly "move the earbud until it clicks" is not sufficient to avoid the problem.

Thanks @Raineer for your reply! That light tip is a good one! Thanks much!
