That’s interesting to know. But it’s hardly instant, I would say!
Oh, never mind. I saw the second post you made quoting the plug-in to Mac solution, which sounds like it was instant for you, but totally ineffectual for me.

The magsafe battery with the latest firmware actually charges at 7.5W :)
Attached image with 1500mAh charging rate.
It is also possible to see that it controls the temperature quite well, when the battery reaches 36ºC, it suspends charging and starts charging again moments after it drops to 34ºC.
However, I still have no option to limit loading to 90% :( :(

What application is it? Thanks

It’s weird mine didn’t update when charging via lighting but as soon as I plugged it into my Mac it worked within seconds.

I only have an iPhone 13 pro with a USB-C to lighting port cord.

How do I update the MagSafe battery?

Is the phone attached to the battery pack when you plug it in to the Mac. I’m doing this and it’s not working.

Phone on. Phone off. Really a POS process. Much like apple lately.
Phone wasn't attached yo the battery pack. just battery pack itself connected to the MacBook via lightning to usb-c cable. Opened up About this Mac > System Report > USB and kept refreshing on the battery pack entry below USB. Eventually showed the updated firmware.

Can I get a definitive answer on whether it’s worth it for the pro max phones? YouTube reviews are not very clear. Most don’t mention the max phones or most are just very negative.

It’s useful as a top up charge. I did find with mine you may need to charge the battery pack every few days. My battery was getting bad on my 13 pro max so bought the battery pack but a reset has fixed my battery issues but it’s nice to have the pack of you ever need it

Still no update - connected the battery pack to my iPad Pro 2021 model for hours via Lightning to USB-C nope. Connected it to the Apple AC adapter for hours - nope. My Macbook Pro is a 2015 model and as such has no USB-C ports. Battery pack firmware has not changed at all. The version never changes. I have no other Mac / Apple computers. Any ideas?

UPDATE:

Connected battery pack via USB-C to lighting connector to iPad pro overnight and it seems to have worked. Baffled why it takes so long to update firmware but it is complete. Apple really need to simplify this process for all of their hardware devices so the same process works on all.
