14.6 cooked one of mine. It made a plopping sound before it died. The other 3 are now unplugged.
100% agreed. Mini is trashIf you like hearing horrible sound....they are great.
For people that grew up on CDs and real stereos in their home the old Homepod can compare to a Booom Box from the 80s. These new ones sound like a cheap $20 speaker underwater and maybe compare to a pair of crapy pc speakers.
I have 2. I think they are good for SQ. I also have 1 full sized - that’s way better but the bass can be a bit bloomy.
I have two original HomePod and two HomePod mini. The mini definitely sound small and tinty, I use mine for general computer audio, but use the original HomePod for listening to music.Really? I was considering buying a pair of HomePod Mini's for my office. Are they really not good?
HomePods are generally warm to the touch when idle. It's overly hot you have to watch out for.This did nothing to address that issue it seems. My HomePods are still warm. But I don’t think it’s dangerously hot.
That was only present in beta 1, removed in beta 2 and still not there in beta 3.Try this:
- Open the Home app;
- Click on the Home icon in the upper left corner, then “Home Settings;”
- Select your Apple ID, then “Apple Music” in “Media;”
- Turn on the “Lossless Audio” toggle.
Yeah....they get warm before they get hot and proceed to scalding to be followed by melt. Then.......One of my HomePods' screens is warm to the touch. The other is hot. Not scalding, not afraid it's going to melt, but still.
My HomePods Mini still aren't working. I'm in the middle of attempting a reset and setting them back up, but I think my iOS 15 B2 dumpster fire is interfering.
Oh,,,it has 'bass reduction' alright.....😏 All the way down to that new setting : 'tumbleweed'.If I recall correctly v15 beta was to have a bass reduction toggle in the settings according to the features page after the keynote.

Apple replaced my out-of-warranty OG HomePod at no cost after 15.0 betta fried my logic board. If their software bricks your device, they have fiduciary duties to replace them in or out-of-warranty, if you were invited to AppleSeed, thank you.What about people who had to pay out of warranty for another one because of it?
Apple replaced my out-of-warranty OG HomePod, from initial release, just this past Tuesday. You have to ask for a Senior advisor and make it clear that their software bricked your device. That warrants an out-of-warranty replacement and it is their fiduciary duty to do so. Alternatively, the Senior Advisor that processed my return advised that if you take it into an Apple Store they can potentially for as upgrade to get it working and if they can not, they will replace it, because a software bricking is their corporate responsibility.My HomePod appears to have bricked with flashing volume lights about 2 months or so ago. It was on 14.5. I was using as a stereo pair hooked up to my apple tv 4k. I called apple support and they basically said I was out of luck. They said I could return it and they would fix out of warranty for $330. Thats more than a new one if you can find one. I was very aggravated to say the least. I had it for only about 2 years. I just gave more feedback to apple but to I doubt I will hear anything. Any suggestions?
