Alongside iOS 16, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16, Apple today released new software that's designed for the HomePod and the HomePod mini.

According to Apple's release notes, software version 16 includes general performance and stability improvements.

‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌‌ software is installed automatically on the ‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌ unless the feature is disabled‌‌‌‌, but the ‌‌‌‌‌‌HomePod‌‌‌‌‌‌ can also be manually updated in the Home app by following the instructions in our HomePod‌‌ update how to.

I'm only seeing 15.6, which is a new (as up 5 minutes ago) update for mine.

Edit: After it started downloading, it changed to 16.0. What a cluster-F when it comes to these things.

My one hope for this update is that Siri no longer gives me a long winded, overly cheery response every time I ask her do something as basic as turning on/off a light in another room. I still cannot believe it works like that and that there's no way to turn off those unnecessarily long and loud responses.

One mine is apparently downloading 15.6 and another 16 lol
Mine always does this. Downloads the release they are already on and then the new one. This bug has been present for many releases now and it's incredible that they still haven't fixed it.

My HomePods seem to be stuck on downloading according to the Home app. Been like that for 15 mins at least

Same here. Apple slammed. Can't even refresh the dev center page.

Half my homepods still have not "automatically" updated to 15.6. I'm not going to force the updates, It's nice having everything working at the moment.

Anyone noticed when you ask for the weather, she replies with my weather data is supplied by xyz? I wonder if ads are creeping in?
