lol @ skim..... (sounds like someone just dropped a piano in his toes)

Seems Apple aggressively pushing ads out.. at a fast pace..

Is this their way of saying "We're not happy, so we need to advertise more to make people aware"

Let users make their own decision...

These ads are just kind of starting to get under my skin...... kind of like "in your face."

I admire Apple though for their pushy advertising model.

(I suppose it can't be worse, unless we soon see a whole lot of Apple fans start singing to their phones)

I would think that this feature would be quite annoying, as I already get annoyed when someone leaves me a voicemail. Just send me a text, I can check that in more situations and in less time than this would require. I haven't used it yet, has anyone found it useful for the recipient?

Downside is they have to hear it, which is the main benefit of texting. It's silent and doesn't interfere with meetings, church, etc.

People CAN choose when to listen to it. And if anyone is texting during church services or meetings then neither one of those events aren't worth attending.

Did you actually watch the whole video? Apple was talking about sending voice texts where texting just wouldn't be convenient or if someone was speaking fast or using their own made up words where there was no real way to spell words. Ya know, people do talk in their own form of lingo. I use this feature with my buddy back and forth. We both have 6 Plus's. We jab each other back and forth on Sundays. We are fans of rivaling football teams and talking trash works best with voice.

Shame the voice quality is so crap

It's atrocious. I don't really understand why they went with such terrible quality. To save space? How much space would it really take to begin with? I guess better quality will be a new feature for iOS 9...*facepalm*

Definitely the best out of the bunch of these commercials.

Yes, finally one with some real humour, class and talent. The previous two were blah.

I use this feature to share my voice with my girlfriend overseas when we can't video or audio chat. Plain ol' texting just doesn't have the same personal touch as hearing one's voice. Not "annoying" at all.

I really dislike these ads, they offer so little and the humour is terrible. I just think back to last years Christmas ad and that was so beautiful. These all feel rather tacky by comparrison.

I also agree about for having this "star power" the voices are not that recognisable and so they might as well not have them. I mean if you have to be told by someone who that was like Tim did at the keynote then what is the point of using a "celebrity". Someone like benedict cumberbatch or patrick stewart etc then right away your like omg I know this voice but with these two its just a waste.

Seriously?

You know if you text in Church it's straight to Hell for you, yes?

Not creative enough, and the idea being highlighted is too basic, won't make anyone go out there and buy a 6 or 6+, but if the main intention is telling current iPhone users what they can do with their phones then good job Apple, awesome Ad.

I like these ads more than the attack ads that seem to be the thing to do these days...

Yea, me and my mate use a similar system.....we came up with a catchy name for it...we called it a phone call!

Few people would buy a smartphone because of one single feature in an ad. The ads put the word out there that there are new iPhones that people should check out. With a bit of humour and light-heartedness, they'll do fine. This is also just one of several ads and I don't think that they will show just this one.

This is a feature I will never use...

Me neither, but I have to admit that I never really considered that it does have practical advantages as well. This ad does show what it's useful for.

haven't used the feature yet after 2 months of iOS 8. Never received a voice text either. Is the sound quality really that bad?

I completely agree with you. But at least Fallon is consistent: He's terribly unfunny in these ads, and he's terribly unfunny on his lame late-night TV show.

I also think Fallon and Timberlake sound too much alike in these ads. They both have nasally voices — it would have been better if one had a deeper voice, or a distinct accent.

Either of your suggestions — Benedict Cumberbatch or Patrick Stewart — would have been awesome.

Or, how about Craig Ferguson and Stephen Colbert?

What happens when you send voice message to someone (most ppl on earth) who don't have iPhone 6?

I really don’t buy these adverts. They are using a lot of star power for almost zero recognition. Neither of them have particularly identifiable voices and I’m still unsure which user is Fallon and which is Timberlake.

The performances are weird too, like they aren’t natural English speakers. I’d have thought a musician or comedian at the level that these two are at would be able to deliver a line convincingly.

Yeah, they should have employed you to do it.

You don't need iPhone 6 for this, it's a feature of iOS 8. Since it's part of iMessage, you can't send a voice message to anyone else with the Messages app.

WOW, that is a must have feature in any phone. I'm going to go buy 14 iPhone 6's just because of this incredibly useful feature. I'm so glad Apple made me aware of this.

If only there was some kind of way to communicate with people using our voices, in a conversation of sorts, using these devices.

A lot of the time we want to get hold of someone but we know they're busy (ie at work, in a meeting, driving etc) and can't call them, which is where this feature is comes into it's own.

It's also a lot faster and easier than leaving a voicemail too, and can be previewed, deleted and re-recorded too should you wish.
