WHAT! Have they really removed the coolest Safari feature or is something wrong with my setup? The sliding page thing is now gone and safari acts just like the old one and yes it does say it's version 5.1. What a bummer. Also some of the fixes made gestures a bit worst then before. Yeah it was a bug and all but before I could go back and forward with either a 2 or 3 finger gesture … not so now. Oh well the latter one I can live with but for crying out loud bring the page sliding thing back.

It is nothing more than a bug for some people. It works fine on my system. Report it if it does not work for your system.

90 tabs isn't for porn, it's for news stories. Open 10-15 sites like macrumors, then start command+clicking to every story that interests you, and before you know it you have tons of stories open in tabs.

Have you tried RSS feeds? Or, I've been trying to condition myself to use the Reading List for that. I don't have as many sites, but I do the Command-click all the time. Just switch to a shift-click and you'll be all set. Then instead of clicking through all your tabs, just click through the list in the sidebar. They'll even sync to different machines and devices, if you're into that sort of thing.

spaces in mission control has a weird numbering bug still.. i have desktop 1,3,2,4,5,6 instead of 1,2,3,4,5,6

That's not a bug, it's a feature. Check out the attached screenshot. It confused me for a while, too, until DP4 when they changed the wording of the description. Basically it's meant to feel more like iOS multitasking: using the 4 finger gesture on the trackpad, you can switch between your last used apps (fullscreen) or spaces in order. Pretty cool, if you're into that sort of thing.

I haven't quite decided if I am yet, but it's growing on me. :)

Ouch. Can't wait to turn that option off. Totally ruins the spatial organization of tasks and information.

Apple borrowed a whole lot of engineers from the Safari and WebKit teams for mostly iPhone related development as those themes are considered amongst the company's most skilled. Downside is that Safari and WebKit introduced new features over time, but at a slower rate and with less QA. If all those engineers get a month of pure bug-fixing they may be able to resolve most of the issues, but as there are already some bugs from Safari 4 I don't think everything will be solved in time. Certainly not if you take into account that Safari 5.1 for Windows needs to be released at the same moment in time. Whoever tried 5.1 on Windows knows it's just plain garbage, not stable enough to test anything.

For the feature-savvy user Lion will be good enough with the introduction, but for a person who wants to work behind his Mac is better off waiting for 10.7.1 or 10.7.2.

Had to take it with my iPhone camera - but after the grey Apple screen with the spinning gear, the screen now sits on an indented Apple logo with the dark grey linen BG before your desktop loads.

Apple sure loves that linen background - it's everywhere on iOS 5.

They just have development budget for such things now because Snow Leopard was alreeady a very polished OS, there isn't much in the technilogy side that must be added in Lion, hence the attention to details.

Yeah. I'm absolutely loving the level of polish on the UI elements. New scrollbars, buttons, UI elements everywhere. It's purty.

This seems to go unspoken on this thread, but I am curious....

I loaded this beta 4 on a new, separate partition to try it out. Is everyone else doing the same? Is anyone using it for your primary op sys? Anyone actually using applications with this, such as MS Suite or Adobe CS?

That's irrelevant though. There can be many instances where you'd need multiple tabs and in those cases Webkit2 should perform well.

The update is definitely on the right track. The stability of the OS is greatly improved and it's is getting to a production state in a very rapid paste. All that is great news because honestly I was getting worried about the OS being ready in time for the launch. There are a few more problems that need to be resolved however, Launchpad is finally working and a few other annoyances have been fixed.

Some things have been fixed, while introducing new bugs. Its very close to a final release, and its currently more stable than other .0 version of an OS i've ever installed.

Is anyone having issues with four finger swiping? I've got my Magic Trackpad setup to swipe between full-screen apps with four fingers, and for the life of me it just doesn't work in DP4 with the latest updates. Wondering if it's a bug or the trackpad. None of the other stuff (bring up Mission Control, Expose, etc.) work either when set to four fingers.

The funny thing is, stuff like Show Desktop and show Launchpad work fine when they're assigned to use three fingers + thumb... which is just essentially four fingers.

Double clicking between finder columns in details view no longer opens the column to full length to see the entire file name. Is it just me?

well when i try to install the update it downloads and then it says can't update because of partial download or corrupted downloaded i already download it 3 times and still can't install

look at the screen shot below it says partially downloaded 100% how is that possible?:confused::confused:

A bug still exists where after a restart or a period of sleep, the right click from the bottom right-corner of the trackpad will not work, but it will work from the bottom left, so it switches for some reason. I restarted after an HP printer update and the right click is switched to the bottom left corner instead of bottom right.

EDIT: This switches after EVERY restart. Bottom right click switches to left, even though the option is set to right in trackpad. I have to re-select "Click in bottom right corner" for it to be where it was before. Weird.
Thank goodness its not just me! Same issue here. I usually use my MBP in clamshell mode so it hasnt been an issue on mine, but I first noticed it this morning on my wife's MB. She tends to use hers more away from the desk so I can see this being a HUGE annoyance for her. I'm tempted to roll her back to the previous version just to save her the hassle of having to go into Systems Preferences after EVERY restart.

edit: I saw earlier someone asked about Bowtie. It works for me just fine. I'm running Lion as my Primary OS and have NO problems on a daily basis...other than this stupid new trackpad bug. Parallels doesn't work, but I found a fix online that got it working. I can't think of a single program off the top of my head that doesn't work.

Non-Apple SSD Trim support

Has anyone checked for non-apple SSD TRIM support using DP4? I haven't been able to find any information about it since the initial DP release.
