Siri can understand several languages

He is using his American accent so Siri will understand him ;-)

Siri can understand:

1. American English
2. British English
3. Australian English
4. French
5. German

In 2012, Siri will also understand:

6. Japanese
7. Chinese
8. Korean
9. Italian
10. Spanish

Wow!

0. 3.7 billion includes kids AND adults. Santa gives gifts to adult too.

1. Danish is a lot easier to understand than Chinese. And the iPhone will be able to understand Chinese in the future. Therefore, Danish is just around the corner.

2. Apple's ads are fantastic. Google is scrambling to try and copy Siri despite dissing it.

0) Never said anything different, just adding to the discussion which as far as i could tell was still focused on kids. (Out of context, my personal take would be - there aren't 3.7 bn households in the world).

1) You would think so; it is not! You see, not even danes understand other danes. Its a mess, really. Un-saveable, un-siriable!

Because like god, he doesn't exist...

I'm mad because Siri doesn't work that fast in the real world. Especially on sprint

Apple ads are always misleading.

Not sure about the US TV Ads, but in the UK they show something, then at the end of the advert in small writing at the bottom of the screen they say something like "Sequence shortened"

-16 for that? Oh people here cannot take a joke. Sad.

Have you considered it was maybe a bad joke? Or that jokes aren't contributing to the discussion people want to have?

I have a feeling you'll be voted down again for complaining about getting voted down. If I were you, I'd get over it. Those post votes are meaningless and you shouldn't care about them anyway.

If they released this in the UK the fandroids would line up to complain to the ASA complaint that the iOS calendar can't cope with 3.7 billion appointments.

Speaking of new ads....

Has anyone else seen that iPod touch web-only banner ad?

It's very similar to the latest iPod touch commercial but more horizontal and constrained in a web page, just like those old "I'm a Mac" ads.

I have a 100 Billion appointments on the 25th. Take that.

Haha. Well he has 3.3 Billion down! :p

I do't use Siri all that much (though when I do, it's a big time-saver), but that's simply a cute commercial.

As usual, Apple made a good emotional connection with this advert. Well-done indeed.

Brilliant.

Damn, that was really good.

Music was nice too.

Yup. This was very charming, made me laugh and smile!

What i really love about this advert is the fact that "Siri" and "iPhone 4s" are not mentioned once, this goes to show how iconic Apple is becoming people instantly know what Apples products are we don't need telling.

Good point. It didn't even enter my mind while watching it cause I was just enjoying how charming it is :)

If you still believe in Santa you shouldn't be getting an iPhone for Christmas.

Very true!

He uses his sleigh charger =)

He has a sleigh charger.

Haha for sure  I heard he has an in-dash iPad 2 as well along with an app for Rudolph's nose ;)

very good ad - way better than those smartass Samsung ones for sure :)

But where's the commercial with the specs, features? How else would we know this is better than the competition?

Thanks for staying classy Apple :)

But it's not 4G!!! Why would anyone want one?!

Ya, maybe they should have gone with a devil robot eye killing everything lol! :roll eyes:

Just another example of how Apple gets it! :apple:

Oh I surely am. I was trying for a Dr. Evil move here but I guess you're right.
Cheers!

but how will santa find the kids in regions where siri can't give directions!?

p.s. in case you're listening, a location-aware siri in canada would be a wonderful xmas present, apple! (and of course feel free to give it to other regions too)

Hmmm... after a quick round on the goog, it appears there is only 2-3 billion (depending on the methodology of the estimation) christians (adults and children) on the planet, so yeah, it is a bit high.....

What about families with mixed religion (farther/mother)?
I am sure Santa's list is accurate :p

And if not many more kids will be happy on Christmas. :D

Just saw the commercial tonight & thought it was adorable, lol, as far as Siri goes about a week ago I finally ran into somebody in public who appeared slightly agitated & talking to himself loudly, as I got closer I realized he was speaking to siri on his phone :D

There are 2 billion children in the world according to this article from october.
Eliminating the "naughty" children and the fact that usually more than one child living at a household, Santa should have much less than 3.7 billion appointments.

Maybe his elves are suing him for poor working conditions, and he has many lawyer appointments.

We have no kids and I get presents!

I love how the whole idea of Santa Claus is make-believe and folklore, yet people are questioning the accuracy of what language he speaks and how many children he has to deliver to.

no... Siri says billion...

Ah, just listened to the you tube version...for some reason in the TV Version (HD, played on all the football games today) siri clearly says "million". My wife and I did a double take and rewinded it a dozen times to be sure. Why would they put a different one on TV?

Maybe they'll fix it in newer releases.
