Apple today released an updated version of iOS 18.3 that's designed specifically for the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The update has a build number of 22D64.

iPhone 11 users can download the new software by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Apple first released iOS 18.3 last Monday, and it is likely that this new version has a fix for a bug that was impacting iPhone 11 models.

The main features in iOS 18.3 were Apple Intelligence related and included Visual Intelligence and changes to Notification summaries. As the iPhone 11 line does not support Apple Intelligence, there are few features in iOS 18.3 for the devices.

The update adds a new Calculator feature that causes the last mathematical operation to repeat when pressing the equals sign, and it fixes an issue where Apple Music playback could continue until a song ends even after the app was closed.

No kidding. It'd be nice to know what that is. Not necessarily MacRumors' fault, but this withholding of information about updates is irritating.
To be fair to Apple, if it’s a security exploit related to the A13 Bionic chip, they shouldn’t advertise that to hackers until people have enough time to update. I’m sure they’ll get more specific soon.

Apple software is so much buggier than it used to be.

I have a 15 pro and have the emoji keyboard issue from 18.0 back on 18.3 that was solved temporarily with 18.2!

Not good Apple, I feel iOS needs its own Snow Leopard moment.
It used to have and it's called iOS 12

In the meantime, I'll stick with iOS 17.7 on my iPhone 11 Pro Max even though it is no longer receiving security updates and iOS 18.x is still a work in progress.

This is the first time (that I can remember) that one of the oldest models received a special iOS release. It's usually the newest models.

Interesting, I got a new battery in my iPhone 11 Pro with iOS 18.3. They were unable to calibrate the battery, so I got it free or charge but with it now showing 0% battery health and no guarantee it would work.

All is fine now, as it was before, I suspect a software glitch caused the calibration fail. So result sort of.

Does anyone know what this update specifically addresses in the iPhone 11 models?

As an iPhone 11 Pro owner, has anyone found iOS 18 better than 17? I’m hesitant to update after reading so many complaints.

I'm running iOS 18.3 RC (I never bothered with the public release as I'm hoping 18.4 betas come out this week) on my base iPhone 11 and it's running very well. No difference in battery utilisation from 17.

I may install this re-release tomorrow evening if there's no 18.4 beta 1 by then. I do wish Apple would actually bother to say what's in these re-releases rather than just sneaking them out. This isn't the first time they've done this.

Ios17 was great on my iPhone 11. Ios18 and 18.1 were great. 18.2 and especially 18.3 are awful! Battery drain like crazy!
Completely agree! Not only is the battery life terrible but the phone feels like it has been placed in an oven after only about two minutes of web surfing.

Be very careful. That kind of overheating can cause a fire/explosion. What I don't understand is why you haven't already returned the phone to Apple. Are you really OK with the battery drain and overheating?

Actually,

On 2/1 I went into an Apple Store for a Genius Bar Appt. Returned two hours later only to find out they did not even have the battery in stock for replacement.

Told another store had the part.

On 2/2 went into the store I was referred to with a Genius Bar appointment.

Two hours later I was given the phone back with a new display, since they damaged it while trying to replace the battery. However, it still had the same dying battery installed.

I was told this time that their battery replacements (Two actually) did not work correctly after install. This was all the stock they had.

They ultimately ordered a full replacement phone and it should be here by the end of the week.

Funny enough, Apple gave zero warnings about fire or hazard.

Since no update appeared for me on the Software Update section, I tried to update using my Windows computer (Apple Devices app). Unfortunately, something went wrong and my iPhone was stuck mid-update. I'm trying to recover it right now, but the easier method (update instead of restore) has already failed once. Guess I'll have to hit the Restore button next time it fails. Fortunately, Apple Devices always does a full iPhone backup before starting the process.

Strange, this new build isn't even listed here. It's still build number 22D63 and no trace of 22D64.

Was it maybe pulled? Did someone see it there before?
