Have to say I've had really good luck with Yosemite from day one. So aside from recent speed boosts and minor bug fixes after the past/recent updates, this OS still remains solid on my MBp. Always nice to get the fixes though, so keep them coming. :)

I always wonder what type of dark magic MacRumor users are into because I've never had any of these WiFi issues, bugs or freeze problems and have the newest Yosemite updates installed on a 2013 iMac, a 2008 iMac and a 2012 Mac Mini....

I am sure it may hit you as well. And to avoid repeated trouble by Apple's sw department you may myrically transform into the 'dark magic MacRumor user' being keen to find out the next challenges due to the guinea pigs reporting on MR. :D

Hopefully this fixes my 2011 MBP sluggish performance after a few hours of use the animations were choppy. Started with 10.10.3

I for one getting tired of updating, troubleshooting, workarounds, and searching forums, to make Apple products work. Never ending. I purchase Apple products to make my life simpler, more enjoyable, and use the products. (End of Rant)
Anyway, thanks to all of you who are willing to allocate the amount of time you do for us. Greatly appreciated.

There is also the option that if everything works just fine, NOT to update anything. (At least not immediately)

Before OS X I used to ALWAYS wait for a week to see the complaints and issues. Now, I don't, because I so far did not have many issues on my 2008 MBP.

I do not expect every update to catch every bug and although I am not a programmer I can only imagine what incredible effort it takes to code and to provide the proper failsafe code for every possible user configuration. Probably an impossible task, so fixing things as they become known seems to be the only solution.

No need to blame Apple for a mess, unstable etc. and let's not forget Yosemite and updates are FREE!!

People can always go to Windoof and see what they get.......................urgh!

Nice to see Apple putting out fixes already. Get those WiFi bugs nailed down and people will be happy (making me wonder if they'll do that before the next release).

Sorry to hear your experiencing this, but totally a v1.0 software problem. Apple should have made Photo's an option and kept iPhoto available and the default for 6 months to a year while they get the initial bugs worked out of Photos cause they were going to be there.

I filed a bug but its Apple so this could take months to fix. until then no use for photos for me

You're such a charmer!

I have not seen kernel extensions - 3rd party or otherwise - mentioned in these articles. You must have access to information I have not seen yet on the topic. I'm green with envy.

Not only he or she is a charmer but also a proud member of the IADL (International Apple Defence League), AKA, the Apple apologists ;) <- tongue-in-cheek smiley to release the tension...

LOL... tension was temporary anyway. It's strange that the forums seem to ebb and flow with different vibes. Fun and unpredictable each time for sure.

I wonder if the IADL has annual dues?

The most common reason people have poor battery life in OS X is Chrome / Flash, or worse, Chrome+Flash.

This is exactly why I don't have Chrome or Flash installed on my MacBook. I just wish a lot of sites would adopt HTML5. I'm still waiting for Hulu, CBS, HBO Now, WWE and several other video sites to finally give HTML5 some love.

There is another major bug in the card slot driver of 10.3.3:

SDXC cards not mount properly on my MacBook Pro in the card slot. Even though they are unlocked physically they are showing up as locked and some are not even mounting on the desktop although they are visible in Disk First Aid.

In Disk First Aid they show as Read Only. I have tried several different sizes and brands of cards. All the cards worked prior to the MacOSX 10.10.3 update.

WIFI Issues and White Screen of Death

The last update was 2 gig for me... and my Wifi's dropping more then ever before on OSX.... anyone else got that?

I have an early 2008 Mac Pro Server and once the last update went in, I started getting the nasty white screen of death popping up. I took it to the apple store and they said that my server was to old for them to work on and I would have to take it to an authorized apple repair place. At the store they had determined that my WiFi and bluetooth cards had gone bad. I just applied the supplemental update and so far no white screen of death. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Not a behavior I see on 3 different Macs with SD slots and 10.10.3.

Residual lines

Ever since 10.10.3 I've been experiencing residual lines left on my desktop when closing certain applications, mainly Office for Mac. After closing the application a faint 1 pixel line remains until I click somewhere on the desktop. 10.10.3 video update today didn't resolve the issue.

I always wonder what type of irrational thoughts MacRumo users are into when they go like "Huh! Wut? I never had this kind of problem with my 3 (THREE! Out of a million of possible combinations) use cases! Hence it cannot be!"

----------

... Yosemite and updates are FREE!!

OSs are not "free": Apple has every incentive to move their user base to the latest release - why? Because there's money to be made! iCloud! Photos! Get the idea?

Besides: the price of the OS is included in the price of the hardware that you buy, since always always sells hardware and software together (that's their huge unique selling proposition, after all).

And Apple has undergone every major attempt to make sure that their hardware gets deprecated quicker and quicker (by not being able to switch/upgrade drives, memory etc.).

Oh and by the way: even if the OS was free: my own time ain't!

----------

Makes you wonder why they bother with public betas.

No. It doesn't.

----------

Do they tell you how to install the fix if your Mac does not start? (Not that I have that problem)

No, but you could record your screen as to illustrate the problem to Apple

Ah, I think I can answer this one. The rule lately regarding apple h/w is: The older, the better. :D

I couldn't agree more with your post, especially for the quoted part.

But now it is updated, you should be able to redownload and make a bootable usb of build 14D136 - and then not require the supplemental update....
On the other hand the delta and combo standalone installers have not been updated and so if you use these, they will still require the supplemental update.

The App Store installer has been rebuilt to include the supplemental update as have the Software Update installer packages. I'm sure the standalone updates will get revised shortly if they haven't already.

as I posted yesterday, the fix is most likely this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6648

Are you supposing that the public beta caught no bugs, since one got through? Or, more likely, are you not involved with software development of any kind.

Exactly. Additionally, not all bugs that are found are considered to be release showstoppers, and are slated for minor updates after the release. Given that this fix was issued April 17, it's a near certainty this bug was known to April on April 8. It was considered important enough for its own update, but not a showstopper for the regular release.
