Just my 5¢

- iTunes 11.1 beta is included (and feels snappier)
- iTunes 11.1 can't sync your iOS device when screen lock is on and you've your device protected with a pincode (works with iOS 6 too).
- iPhoto beta is using Apple maps now
- iBooks is pretty buggy at this time
- They fixed Activity Viewer a bit, but it it's far from ready.
- Still a lot of things are not localized, Mountain Lion was always fully localized in the beta process.
- Safari can now store your creditcard numbers (safely)

I don't think Game Center and Reminders will get a redesign with Mavericks.

I think it will take Apple at least a month to finish the remaining bugs and localizations, but damn it's snappy. I don't expect iBooks to be publicly available from launch.

This build, ignoring the normal "Safari is snappier" jokes, is ridiculously fast.

You say "jokes", but even Apple has started saying Safari is snappier:

http://www.apple.com/uk/osx/preview/

Thanks to the new Nitro Tiered JIT and Fast Start technologies in Safari, the web pages you visit feel snappier and more responsive

so it's no joke :p

There are two things in Firefox that are missing from Safari IMHO; Re-open Last Closed Tab (Cmd+Shift+T) - incredibly useful when you inadvertently close the wrong tab - and Live Bookmarks (where an RSS feed sits on the Bookmarks Bar as a drop down)

Arrrgh, I knew they were gonna do this.

They uglified iBooks. There's no page-flipping animation, no texture, no life. I'm really starting to hate this new flat trend. Flat, in many cases, seems to translate to "bland and lifeless."

Out of all of the skeuomorphism I'll miss turning pages the most.

I don't want to see what's currently playing. I do want the other types of iTunes notifications (like new albums on sale alerts, etc.).

What other types of iTunes notifications. Now playing is the only notifications iTunes gives you

dp5 changes

Some changes I noticed other than iBooks:

1.no more scrolling in mission control (Which i kinda like how it was in ML)
2.overall snappier ui (on my retina 15 integrated gpu)
3.MUCH much better battery life indication on web browsing usage (will update after running it down if it holds true, estimated 10.5 hours full charge)
4.Inbuilt Feedback assistant (which is a first for mac os x i think)
5.iPhoto update ?? (even if it wasn't installed before)

6.Also FANTASTIC scrolling of huge pdf documents in Preview

how is it for the better? i think that is an opinion not a fact.

Less ornamentation makes it easier to focus on your content. That's the philosophy, anyway.

Whether or not you prefer it, of course, is a matter of taste, which is entirely opinionated, as you state.

iBooks question.

Anyone worked out how to add cover art to a book that doesn't have it by default?

Have they returned color to the sidebar icons in iPhoto 9.4.6 beta? I hate the grey sidebar icons. iTunes 11 gave me hope that colorful sidebar icons would be restored to all apps such as finder and iPhoto, but so far nothing.

In finder, the list view of a folder still reverts back to the default sizes if you change the column sizes and navigate away and back again. Kind of annoying if you want to see longer file names.

1.no more scrolling in mission control (Which i kinda like how it was in ML)

You can still do it, I'm able to do it with my mouse wheel but not on the trackpad.

Enhanced dictation still do not work regular dictation works tho..Worked on the first preview but broken ever since.

Liking the iPhoto update!

Loving the share option icons. Definitely lining up ios7 and Mavericks here. Well duh...
