Also: TRIM is DISABLED now. Should I bother re-enabling it? I have it installed because I have a third party SSD in my Mac which I installed on my own.

I also have a third party SSD, don't have it enabled now, I can't give you an answer to your question, some say you should, others say it's not needed.
I have a Samsung Pro, don't think I need it.

I ran Disk Utility after updating and had a bunch of errors:
- Incorrect number of file hard links
- File System Bitmap (It should be 16313738 instead of 15671731)

I booted into Recovery to repair and got more errors to, like an orphaned file node or something like that. It all got repaired and I rebooted, but I'm concerned about all the errors that popped up.

Have any of you experienced the same after running Disk Utility?

See my reply above to the other user!

Thanks so much for your help. My heart dropped when I thought I couldn't fix it!

So, that's your definition of something that Apple needs to be working on an update for? First, you are using your iMac in a way that 99%+ of people never will. Second, all it takes to fix your issue is to restart after 8 hours of work. The horror... the horror...

I agree with the person you're quoting. Prior versions of OS X could be run for months on end without any need to restart. The fact that you need to restart after a few hours indicates to me that there's some memory management issues.

Updated an hour ago and so far everything is good, then again other than 2 safari crashes 10.10.1 was ok for me as well. :)

For those wondering whether their Macs are affected by the Thunderbolt vulnerability, I have checked the firmware update Apple has released and it seems these models specifically have been updated (and most likely affected):

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013) - iMac14,1/iMac14,3
iMac (27-inch, Late 2013) - iMac14,2
iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2014) - iMac14,4
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) - iMac15,1
MacBook Air (11-inch, Mid 2013)/(11-inch, Early 2014) - MacBookAir6,1
MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012)/(Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013) - MacBookPro10,1
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012)/(Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013) - MacBookPro10,2
MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)/(Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) - MacBookPro11,1
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)/(Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) - MacBookPro11,2
Mac mini (Late 2014) - Macmini7,1
Mac Pro (Late 2013) - MacPro6,1

Unfortunately, it seems like it's only available for Yosemite users. Though I'm fairly certain it should affect Mavericks users and possibly earlier OS's.

Thank you for this - the Mac I'm traveling with (and therefore most concerned about) is not on that list, which would explain why I never saw the firmware get flashed.

It seems to have fixed the .NEF/RAW issue with iPhoto (Sort of)

Previous to today the Apple authorized fix for scrambled/all white or all black raw files from Nikon (or Canon) cameras was to:

Go to:
System\Library\CoreServices
Delete RawCamera.bundle and RawCameraSupport.bundle
Reboot
Reinstall RawCameraUpdate5.06.dmg

Today I found that after installing the update .NEF (RAW) images were either all white or all black or digitally scrambled.

I deleted as above but instead of installing 5.06 as directed I tried 6.02 (which had failed before pretty much every time I tried it).

And .NEF files appear to work now from memory cards or stored on my hard drive.

I still predict it could fail at any second but this is more encouraging.

Otherwise the other thing I noticed about this update is my entire machine seems faster - reading photos into the photo library or encoding a music file or replotting the screen just seems a bit faster.

Apple have now released 10.10.2 updates as standalone installers which include the firmware update as well as a full installer on the mac app store which you will need in case you want to make a bootable usb: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1801963/

delta (including firmware update):

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1785

combo (including firmware update):

http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1786

Thanks. I've been waiting for a Combo update to potentially clear up a couple of issues in my SSD boot drive that started out in a 2012 mini 2.3 then was moved to a 2012 mini 2.6 and finally found its way onto an Apricorn PCIe Vel-Duo card in a 2012 Mac Pro.

All of that happened without any fresh installs. Yes, I like to play rough!

To anyone that was previously having the WiFi connectivity dropping problems (not the speed, but the entire thing): did the update fix it?

Currently using Mavericks and can't be bothered to upgrade again to Yosemite just to find out it still isn't fixed and have to downgrade back to Mavericks.

I see speed drops, and SSIDs occasionally disappear from the list, even ones I have connections to

I suspect that DiscoveryD is still broken to some level

The Combo doesn't work, AFAIK. I've tried on an 2010 11" MBA and roommies 2012 13" MBA. Both are on stock 10.10.1 and both say "The Volume does not meet the requirements for this Update". :S

Dont need to, but if you want to check out the SSD Tweak Guide in my sig.

WiFi

WiFi is still not fixed: webpages in Safari still don't load correctly or don't load at all.

****** this!

Looking forward to Windows 10 now.

If anything it's worse for me now. No idea why. Considering dropping back down to Mavericks too.

Those that had issues with WiFi since the beginning with Yosemite:

Finally fixed? Yes or no. Also, what model do you have?
