curious if they ported all apps to swift for this or when will that happen by? presume it would double the performance of all apps in the way they alluded to during the WWDC.

Swift is far from being ready for serious development. They have done a little bit with it, but I doubt that they will actually rewrite anything using Swift. And why would it double the performance? Swift is slightly faster for some things and slower for other things. All in all, there will be no visible difference in performance.

  • The OS as a whole is much more stable, responsive and fast than before.
  • The Notification Center has a "Today" tab, and strangely enough, you can't add in previously-available widgets like the calculator, etc.
  • Tabs in Safari are now transparent, just like the navigation bar/rest of the UI.
  • Photo Booth is back, with a new icon and UI.
  • FileVault's menu/interface has been slightly redesigned.
  • Time Machine's interface has been redesigned.
  • Fonts and highlights in context menus appear to be slightly more legible.

Was widgets in notification center already available on the first release?

If not they are now, seems you can add a social widget, world clock, and cal. now.

That's weird, because I'm unable to.

I was able too..

Dashboard is off by default. Can be changed system settings > mission control

It is up to VMWare to get their software working with the new OS.

Hope that helps!

This does help thanks.

An earlier version of Fusion a few releases ago (OS X releases) failed to work in developer previews until preview 4. I'll hold out, but thanks for your help.

address bar in safari is shifted to the left now
------
scrolling between pages on launchpad seems smoother now.
------
When sending a message on quick reply, it doesn't send you back to the messages app once you hit send like it did in beta 1
------
not sure if the black arrows when opening apps, docs, or downloads is new but I don't remember seeing it.
-----
when uploading something on safari it no longer takes an hour for the drop down menu to pop up.
------
not sure if this is a bug or not but when switching between desktop and safari the background is blue

I'm not too sure, I can't remember exactly what I did, but it now I have an new icon on my status bar, although none of the options work. Seems to have something to do with iMessage.

I feel like this OS X version is more stable than OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Even if it is in DevPreview.

I'm just not a fan of Spotlight now. I hate clicking it and then I get a pop-up. BOO!

Yes, this is going to be an adjustment for sure! I think that putting it front-and-center will help to get it adopted. I use Spotlight daily to launch apps and do minor additions, but that's it. Apple is positioning Spotlight to be a replacement for Google searches, and this will help it bridge the gap between some strange (but very cool!) menu and something that feels more like a browser window.

Can anyone confirm that Adobe CS6 and CC apps still work? I remember when I tested Mavericks DP2, Fireworks CS6 ceased to launch. Worked fine in Yosemite DP1.

yes cs6 works, you have to install java for some apps

Can anyone confirm it is more responsive and faster on rMBP 15" late 2012/early 2013?

Thanks
