This should have been free! What a RIP off :(

I guess we are going to need it to clean the notch.
Yeah, FFS, it's just a microfibre cloth. Should be $2, or yeah, free in the box.

Same with the rubber feet in old MBP's. Apple charges a laughable fortune for them, when they are realistically 20c parts at your local hardware store. It cracks me up that if you take your laptop in for a repair or service, they will replace any missing case screws for free, but not the rubber feet. It did annoy me that one time I took it in, they removed all the Phillips head case screws, and put in interlobe ones, and they didn't tell me, so next time I went to remove the case, I was like, wtf, and had to go buy a new tool.

LOL. $19 for a microfiber cloth??? 😂 I love Apple, but NO. You could buy a pack of 10 on Amazon for a couple of bucks. i will buy Apple computers, tablets & iPhones…but will never buy their accessories like covers & micro fiber towels.

I still use my black Apple microfibre that was INCLUDED in the box
Hard to imagine now we used to get these with the iPhone.

What they didn’t mention is that this is a subscription polishing cloth. That’s right, $19 a month! But with that you’ll get the latest features like Apple lossless wiping and the Dolby atmos cleaning experience.

I’m using kitchen towels with window spray on it, my iMac is still flawless.

Careful, you may void your warranty if you don't use the official apple cleaning cloth.

In all seriousness, apple have nothing to lose from releasing this. They probably just slapped their logo on a cloth from a generic Chinese OEM and put it on the website for $19. Im sure the unit cost of one of these is less than a dime; and yet they'll probably sell 1M units in a year. Not a bad little side hustle for apple.

Apple today released a microfiber Polishing Cloth accessory, designed for cleaning the screens of Apple devices, for $19.

Although today's "Unleashed" Apple event focused on the Mac in terms of hardware with a screen, Apple tables an expansive "compatibility" list on the Polishing Cloth's store page, featuring iPhone, iPad, Mac, iPod touch, and Apple Watch models dating back several years.

Apple usually advises caution when cleaning its nano-texture glass option on the Pro Display XDR and 27-inch iMac, but the new cleaning cloth is apparently appropriate for use even on these displays.

The Polishing Cloth was added to the Apple Store alongside the third-generation AirPods, new HomePod mini color options, and high-end MacBook Pro models and is available to order now. The polishing cloth does not come with the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, so if you want an Apple polishing cloth for these devices you will still need to purchase one separately.

Come on Apple… Great products but your greed is a real turn off. $20 for something that should be given away free.

They're not selling these to make money (really). They're awash in money already. Seriously awash.

They get bombarded with questions on how to clean the displays, so they decided to offer their own cloth. Simple as that. Nothing particularly special about this cloth (if there was, they would be touting it), other than it being suitable for use in cleaning the laptop or iPad or iMac displays.

As to how they come up with a price of $19 rather than selling it for $10, or $5, or even $1, I have no idea. But regardless of the price, just run the numbers, no matter how many they sell it's not going to make the slightest difference. Is there anything on the Apple website that is less than $19? They don't offer the ability to sort their store by price, so hard to tell.

selling a 10 cent cloth for $19 makes money. $18.90 is $18.90. there are people that will buy anything and everything from apple. (see: HomePod, AirPods max, etc)

Why buy a microfiber cloth for a buck or two, when you can get one from Apple that works just as well for 10x as much? 🤔
