It finally did it. I had to leave my AirPods Pro 2 at home, left came back and checked the version numbers again and it was updated. Only took 3-4 days!

My AirPods Pro 2 also finally updated, and I had the case closed, so apparently having it open isn't needed for firmware updates. In fact, Apple's official instructions on how to initiate an Airpods firmware update says their case lid has to be kept closed. I dug into this with the questionable ChatGPT, and it concluded that there must be some other wireless protocol, not documented by Apple, that allows the Airpods and their case to intermittently wake up and communicate with the device (iPhone, Mac, etc.) you're using to view the Airpods firmware and update it.

I do have access to the “beta” updates but as of now still no change for the Airpods / case version 7E93 and the AirPods are connected wireless to my iPad M4 on iOS 26 and the iPad is connected wirelessly - am I missing something?

I’ve been waiting for the update to happen since last week. My AirPod pro 2 on 7E93 never updates. iPhone 16 pro max, iOS 26 public beta 1. I’ve tried rebooting, resetting repairing, with power without power, anything and everything I found on ChatGPT. Nothing works I’m still stuck on 7E93

I have the beta toggle, but for some reason when you turn it on, if you exit out and go back into it, it's toggled off again. And this keep happening on iOS, iPadOS and macOS. I've tried resetting my AirPods and still the same issue. Been this way since Beta 2. AirPods Pro 2 (Lightning).
Starting to wonder if the beta is only meant for USB-C versions...

Mine finally updated from 308b or whatever to 8A324b. Didn't do anything special.

APP2 USB-C.

Updated to iOS26 Beta 5 (developer).
Still no "Airpods Beta Updates" option for my Airpods Pro 2 (Lightning)

macOS26 (both beta 4 & 5) has the option, but I don't get any new firmware update...

Still stuck on 7E93 - iPad M4 / APP2 USB-C - connected via USB-C to iPad Pro and iPad Pro connected to WiFi. I have no issues with the beta slider and running iOS 26 beta (non-developer). The trick is to my knowledge if the APP case is closed this disconnects the BT connection, and having the lid open enables the BT connection. Im baffled why such a complex process when an iPhone update is easy.

UPDATE: About 2 hours later the firmware is now 8A324B and the case is: 74.10.0 however I suspect the case version will stay the same.

Apple instructions say to keep the case closed. /odd

This made the "Airpods Beta Updates" appear on my iPhone:
- Set my iPhone 15 Pro Max to Developer mode with iCareFone (app on my Mac Mini)
- Settings - Developer - Pre-Release-Beta-Firmware - Delete the Airpods Pro 2 from the list (edit: this done on the iPhone of course)
- Factory reset my Airpods
VOILA! :)

Then I got the beta (8a324b) update very quick after I enabled "Airpods Beta Updates" AND "Airpods Analytics Data".
(Case closed and connected to Magsafe charger while updating)

After updating to the public beta 2 today on my iPhone 13, I still don’t see the AirPods beta toggle in my AirPods Pro 2 settings. Is there any way to get this setting/update to show up, without the use of a Mac?

I can just point you to my "recipe". If you manage to set your iPhone to developer mode, you are golden.
I don't know how to do that without connecting the iPhone to a Mac/PC and using an app like for ex. iCareFone.
Hopefully someone here can help with that.

After many many days waiting for the update to trigger, I turned on the option on my iPad, and within 20 mins, the update was there. lol. Guess my phone and mac studio don't matter.
