Why is there an (a) in the version? This is the first time I saw this and got suspicious.

After this update or maybe it was the Beats firmware update I keep getting warnings about USB accessories using too much power. There's no chance on Earth they are using too much power. I just got the message again now and the only thing connected was a Wacom tablet.

So, they sent a "rapid response" security update via the normal update process (System Settings > General > Software Update) with no warning about potential issues... And they posted THOSE warnings on the Apple website? Tell me how that's convenient and/or correct. Timmy and his minions screwed the pooch on this one.
OpenCore Legacy patcher isn't Apples product and they don't support macs that use it, still not great that it did that to your macs but you take your risks using it I guess, I mean my iMac is still running Venturer but I doubt it will get mac OS 14 (2017 BTO top end iMac) but if you are putting software on unsupported macs I guess you have to run that risk (which I may be doing soon) and Apple wont care less, another reason I don't like them as much as I did because Apple dictate what your machine does far more than I like, and they make machines unsupported I feel way before they are.

The strange thing is that I have never used the open core legacy patcher … even Apple Support cannot explain why this security update borked my Mac Studio. Their advice? Now that I’ve removed it and can boot again, just ignore this critical security update. Again, thanks, Timmy.

Apple, you better up your game. Take that little extra time to make sure "it just works".

Because your first emergency response looked like this:

Apple does not have to post warnings on non-supported Macs using Patches etc. We take the risk using non-apple patches etc., especially on non-supported Macs.

Apple Support - "About Rapid Security Responses for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS"
Published Date: May 01, 2023
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201224
"If you choose to turn off this setting or not to apply Rapid Security Responses when they’re available, your device will receive relevant fixes or mitigations when they’re included in a subsequent software update."

So, no release notes for Rapid Security Responses, the vulnerability(ies) fixed will be mentioned in the subsequent software update.

On May 04, 2023, During the installation iOS 16.4.1(a) update, the phone issued a system message and the work stopped. When the phone is rebooted, the logo will appear on a black screen and further work will not continue. Apple Service Center was unable to fix the issue and reported it as "Error 9".

Now the iPhone 13 is forever left with a logo on black screen and an endless installation of the iOS 16.4.1(a) update.
